Christine knew that Colonel Brown had left with the USS Quasar Quest. The Dogs were cleaning up a weapons depot after the Klingons tried to use an asteroid as a stopover point after General Kabarann was unable to use Lakaria Kahless without incident. She worried about the Colonel but this was his element. This is where he felt the most alive.
Christine missed her Antican lover. She had grown very fond of the Anticans as a people and headed out to Athens to be amongst the dog-like Anticans. She went into the Athenian Blues bar. There was an Antican playing the sax. The blues was from Earth in the 1940s and 1950s. The sound of the saxophone was something that seemed to draw Christine. She felt sad. Her lover had chosen his duty over her.
She sat first in the back of the club drinking Romulan ale and was soon sitting up front almost mooning over the saxophone player. He could tell the music was speaking to her. He could read it in her face.
He looked down at her and literally lifted the up the sax by her face in literal flirtation. Christine could not believe how she felt in that moment. She loved Bell but this was something other. Who was this sax player and why was he so intriguing. Christine did not even notice as he dropped at the access key card on the table.
As he finished the set and disappeared behind the curtain, Christine realized it was a room key. She recognized the Ishka logo. She walked back towards the shuttle but she could see the lights of the casino. She knew what betraying Belvedere Brown could mean but she had learned what his choice was. He was a marine. He was never gonna change that. When duty called, the bulldog would be gone.
The shuttle command key came up, "Destination."
Christine thought about it for a long time. Finally, she blurted out, "Ishka's."
She knew what was going to happen next.
