Nicole remembered the conversation well. She looked at Betsy and flat out told her that she did not have to come to Reykja Penthe and the extreme cold. Nicole gave her the out.
Betsy smiled and told Nicole that this was a time when Nicole needed her most. The Porcine Bovidae people were bred as slaves for the Tellarites. They were born to help.
Nicole had spent her time trying to process the inhabitants of Medara who had chosen to follow her to the frozen world of Reykja Penthe. She had almost forgotten that Betsy was on the surface working very hard to build houses and string cables for lights.
Betsy had been focused on the work. She was not focused on the Branson Beauty, she was focused on the task at hand. She and Colonel Teero were working to build homes and trying to figure out how to keep a damn replicator warm enough to produce food for the colonists.
Nicole had taken a shuttle up to the trade center. She just wanted to be warm for one day. She replicated a glass of wine and sat down to look at the surface.
Betsy came into the living area of the guest quarters.
"I know this is a bit much.", Betsy acknowledged, "I can leave if you like."
Nicole looked at Betsy. She could not believe she had stayed on to help, "Stay."
