V'Larii has always been tough to handle. The Vulcan had been kicked out of both the Vulcan Academy and Starfleet Academy. Branson had gotten her on track and even got her through the course material and assigned to the Archangel.
Bethany had a soft spot for her tactical officer. Bethany too had her struggles. She was disgraced Admiral Bruce Montgomery's daughter. She had helped her along. V'Larii had actually been making some progress mostly dropping her Vulcan arrogance until V'Ohlet was killed. It brought back the world is out to screw me attitude that had led to the fascist world of V'Ros and the rise of the Vulcan Empire. It had always been hidden beneath Vulcan culture.
They are stronger, faster and more adaptable than any of the humanoid races. They have hidden their superiority behind a mask of logic but when it bubbles over they are arrogant and superior.
V'Larii was growing tough for even Bethany and Martin to handle together. Bethany came up with a plan to bring some marine discipline to the Archangel inviting Major Tanus of Gorn to bring forth a sort of command boot camp for her leadership group. Even Bethany herself would participate.
Tanus was at first not happy taking the Dragons to the single nacelle Archangel. He actually thought it was a demotion for the former head of the entire marine corps. Tanus had balked at going until he learned of the reconciliation between Christine T'Nley and Tracklerca of the Bzzit Khaht. He was so livid he just wanted to be somewhere else.
Aboard the Archangel, he was continuously challenged by V'Larii. They were seen shouting at each other, literally nose to nose. Tanus grabbed her and shouted, "I know what you need."
He kissed her on the mouth. V'Larii shockingly did not resist.
Tanus has been the unfortunate stigma about his size and a The Gorn history but it fit just fine. V'Larii moaned with excitement. It was an amazing scene.
V'Larii was on the bridge sitting at the Tactical Station. Terra looked at her, "You know there are a lot bigger, right?"
V'Larii looked at the Bajoran engineer, "A marine truly knows how to handle any weapon."
