"Mommy, I had a bad dream.", Brenna called.
Nicole got out of bed to tend to her young daughter. She had obviously had a bad dream. Nicole tended to her young charge. She cuddled the young lady and promised that things would work out because good things always happen to good people.
Aphrodite listed to the kind words. She suddenly had a tear come to her eye. She remembered her own sadness castaway from the planet Cait and left here to try to succeed or to just be another colonist lost in the cold.
Nicole yawned as she walked down the hallway to get back into the warmth of the blankets. She heard the young Mephitidae sobbing. Nicole knew it was wrong. She had made so many mistakes in her life. Penny was dead now. S'Nii's career has never been what it could have been. She is the dark cloud.
She still could not help herself. She crawled into the bed and cuddled up to the young Caitian sub racial student.
"It will be okay. Good things happen to good people.", Nicole whispered.
Aphrodite remembered the whisper to Nicole's own daughter and somehow she felt better. She felt part of something. Nicole fell asleep with her arm around the young skunk like Caitian.
Nicole woke up alone in the bed. She stumbled out to the kitchen. Aphrodite was making toast for the kids. Nicole smiled.
"Mommy Aphrodite is making toast.", Brenna giggled.
"We cannot call you Aphrodite. You need a nickname.", Nicole teased.
"Skunk.", Mac blurted out.
"No, sweetie and don't you use that word around a Mephitidae. Not ever!", Nicole scolded.
"How 'bout Goddess? Isn't Aphrodite a goddess name on Earth?", Brenna asked.
"It is arrogant to call someone goddess dear. Maybe we could just call her Dess.", Nicole offered.
"Dess sounds like a boys name, how 'bout Dessa?", Brenna offered.
Nicole looked at Aphrodite, "Dessa?"
The Mephitidae just loved being a part of something. She smiled, "You can call me whatever you like."
Nicole smiled, "ok, Dessa."
