Jackie was on the comm with her father's aides when she learned about the enrollment of Lucinda Pan'Taar into the Younger Academy. The aides informed Jackie that the operation cannot afford to lose the Branson influence to the reorganizing supporters of Admiral Marcus-Brutus Pan'Taar.
Jackie looked at the viewer, "As President Madison moves towards isolationism, Nicole Branson is not a critical influence. This is no longer a valuable operation."
"Crewman Naar'Haaj, you have an assignment. I understand your frustration after learning of the play from Beatrice Bose. Beatrice will be taken care of, just like her sister.", the aide announced.
"Wait, Betsy Bose died in Branson Beauty surgery accident.", Jackie looked at the aide.
"Yes, the simplest explanation is always the most accepted.", the aide responded cryptically.
"Do your job, Sonjaca. Keep Branson under our control.", the aide ordered.
"Whatever you have to do.", the aide qualified his order.
Nicole walked into her cabin in Camelot to find Jackie offering up herself. Nicole knew of her distrust over Beatrice. She also knew why she came to Camelot. She knew that her father had sent her here because of Branson's influence in the known worlds.
She looked at the beautiful undressing Tellarite, "Not like this, Jackie. I love you but I want you to come back because you want to, not because some aide thought it would maintain Tellarite prominence in the Federation. Get dressed."
Jackie started to cry. She was about to prostitute herself for her father. Nicole replicated a bottle of Picard Chardonnay. The pair, symbols of the colonies, sat on the floor and got drunk.
All too often, people have prostituted themselves to make the colonies move forward. Today was not going to be another one of those days.
