One of the true measures of a Regional Fleet Authority is ship building. The creation of a new line indicates an intent for preservation. Admiral Christian Moyer knew it was an important step in his own leadership as well.
He had already aligned with the civilian government and Governor Bernice Branson. This is a model that Admiral Vincent Viceroy had used to perfection. He and Nicole Branson had become very influential in their pursuit of relevance. Christian lacked the cache of Admiral Viceroy or the influence that Vincent had gained by aligning with powerful Betazoid Admiral Illyan Coren but he thought that he could still become influential by controlling the Federation-Klingon Corridor.
To do so, he would need more staff and at least one more ship.
In the history of the King’s Fleet, the USS John Paul II had been a trusted vessel. The at the time four nacelle speedster had played a huge part in the protection of Ephyra in the Bajoran Corridor. Dr. N’Ton of Gorn and Chancellor Hadrian of Selay had started the construction of the Pope as a Rhodes Island Class in the tradition of the USS Providence in the King’s Fleet or the legendary USS Voyager in Starfleet.
The ship is coming along thanks to student’s of the Onega Academy and Industrial Replication. The John Paul II will be of significant help to the King’s Fleet.
Now the real problem…
Staffing the damn thing!
