“I should be the commanding officer.”, T’Ensa looked at Jamie.
“The problem, Commander, is that in order to in command, people need to be willing to lay down their lives for you.”. Jamie looked at T’Ensa.
“You are highly competent. You are a tactical genius and I am honoured to have you as my first officer but your attitude makes you a hard person to follow.”, Jamie explained.
“I can be compassionate.”, T’Ensa grumbled.
“My good Vulcan friend, you can be a lot of things, but your attitude makes you seem unfeeling.”, Jamie tried to be careful.
“Competence should not be a hindrance.”, T’Ensa grumbled.
“It’s not about competence, Commander. It’s about instilling loyalty in the staff.”, Jamie smiled at her new Vulcan First officer.
“The chain of command installs loyalty.”, T’Ensa frowned.
“I wish it was that simple.”, Jamie stood up to walk out.
“I will comply because new Admiral Moyer has appointed you commanding officer.”, T’Ensa responded.
“I would expect nothing less.”, Jamie chuckled.
T’Ensa looked puzzled. She just didn’t understand.
