There Are No Miracles Empty
PostSubject: There Are No Miracles   There Are No Miracles EmptySun Jan 02, 2011 4:46 am

Skye stared at the monitors and looked over every inch of the hovering DNA strand. She even sent the images to Starbase 234 for Lavender to have a look at. Skye was still looking at the images when Lavender contacted her on an open channel, "Dr. Greene, I will be there as soon as I can."

Lavender arrived in the early morning. She looked at the data. Lavender actually started to cry, "I thought I thought of everything."

Skye looked at the young doctor, "There are some things that cannot be fixed and should not be tampered with."

Skye actually put her arms around Lavender. Dr. Lassie Coren had been the enemy. She manipulated Nicole Branson, even tried to kill her with the hatching but she did it to save her sister. Skylight could understand.

"We have to tell her.", Skye looked at Lavender.

"Nicole should be there.", Lavender looked at Skye.

Dr. Greene was impressed by her understanding of the situation. Skye made arrangements for Nicole to come to the hospital. Nicole and Magenta had enjoyed an incredible evening. The Felicity Powers Gala would have rivalled anything done by Mary Lou Cole and made everyone long for 2391. The countdown brought wonderful kisses, big hugs from everyone. For one moment, there was no Primatos Hunt. There was no Romulan politics. There was no other issues. There was only the colonists and they were together on New Year's Eve.

Nicole and Magenta went home and followed the example from the evening. Captain S'Nii and Commander Lindsay Viceroy getting caught in the champagne room will the stuff of party legend on the colony. The celebration sex was incredible. Nicole moaned and moaned. Her life had been restored right before her eyes.

Nicole arrived at the hospital believing that Dr. Greene had something to say about her leg. Maybe she would be able to begin regeneration sooner. Nicole arrived all smiles wishing everyone in the hospital a happy new year.

Nicole went into the back. She received no special treatment. She sat with Klingon children. She chatted with the Cardassians and even Romulans at the Teaching Hospital waiting room. She had such an open way about her. It was wonderful to see her spirits lift the room.

Nicole rolled into the waiting room, "Oh my god, what is she doing here!?!"

Skye looked at Nicole, "I invited her. She had to be told first."

"Told what? That she is a murderer who tried to kill me to save Magenta.", Nicole cried out.

"What if it was Brenna? Wouldn't you do whatever you thought you could.", Lavender glared at Nicole.

"What's wrong?", Nicole could see the tension in the room.

Lavender walked over to the monitors and turned them back on. The DNA strands appeared slowly rotating on the screens. Lavender started to cry and slumped to the floor.

"What is it?", Nicole begged.

"The DNA strands are not stable, Nicole. You cannot resurrect the dead.", Skye looked at Nicole.

"What?", Nicole cried out.

"She is dying and quickly.", Skye looked at Nicole.

"Oh my god.", Nicole exclaimed, the pain etched on her face.

"We have to tell her.", Skye looked at Nicole.

"How long does she have?", Nicole looked at Skye.

"At the current rate of decay, she has only hours maybe even minutes.", Lavender sobbed.

Skye looked at the wall mounted comm, "Could you send Dr. Magenta Coren-Branson in."

Magenta walked in. She saw Lavender sobbing on the floor and then the pain on Nicole's face. Skye looked at Magenta.

"What is it? Is it my mother?", Magenta was shaking with anxiety.

Lavender stood up, "Magic, its the DNA strand. It is unstable. Resurrection remains impossible; even for Betazed."

"What?", Magenta looked at Nicole, "Am I dying?"

"Yes.", Nicole burst into tears.

Lavender looked at Magenta, "I am so sorry."

Magenta took a few moments to gather her composure, "Don't be sorry, Lassie. I got three days to be with my family once again."

Magenta put her hands on Nicole's and knelt down to her handicapped beloved, "I got a chance to kiss my Nikki once again."

She turned and hugged Lavender, "I want to thank you little sister. The Klingons never gave me a chance to say good bye. I will get that chance now."

Skylight burst into tears at the words. Magenta, the resident Betazoid on the colony filled the room with love in a time of great sadness.

"Brenna should come.", Magenta begged.

"I will have her brought right away.", Nicole sobbed.

Lavender looked at Nicole, "I will get my parents."

Magenta looked at Lavender and laced her fingers in hers, "That would be nice."

Magenta was in the paliative care room in the McCoy Hospital when everyone arrived. There were so many tears. Magenta smiled, "This is a special time. Try not to be sad. Watching the Klingon kidnapping is sad. This is just a good bye for now."

The words offered little comfort. There was so much sadness. Everyone thought they had a miracle. Nicole had given her leg for that miracle. Now it was being taken from them.

Magenta looked at Lavender, "You take care of my Nikki, Lassie."

Those were her last words. The image of Brenna hugging her addomen will be etched in everyone's mind.

"Come on, Lavender. Your father and I have a shuttle waiting.", Elizabeth looked at the young Dr. Coren.

"I would like to stay for a while.", Lavender looked at her mother.

"Don't be foolish, Lassie. there is nothing else you can do here.", Elizabeth sobbed.

"Good bye, mother.", Lassie snapped.

Lassie slumped to the floor leaning against the wall. Brenna and Skye left the room leaving only Lassie and Nicole and the dead Magenta.

"I would have done anything to bring her back. Anything.", Lavender sobbed.

"That I understand.", Nicole wiped her eyes.

Lavender got up and slowly walked from the room. Nicole was alone again. Perhaps it was her destiny to end up alone. She had given so much love to the colony. She had given her service, her soul and every part of her being.

She looked out the window at Omega Prime, the capital, her capital. She sobbed. Why doesn't the colony love her back?
