The truth is, for many of us, we have no where to go. My options are to go back to Cait and serve meals in a tiny restaurant. Here, I am the Captain of the Omega Prime Emergency Services. I am the head of the police force. How can I go back?
For me, there is no options. I cannot evacuate. I must stand my ground. I must defend my home. If there was ever a need for Emergency Services, it was now. I know that Nicole, Vincent and the Command Staff must be doing something to take the colony back. The only need for emergency services is to buy them time. To buy time for a rescue by the Achillies, the Flag Ship, the Liwei, our benefactor and my sources tell me the Quest, our friend. They are coming. The key is to keep the Romulans out of the Capital. I know that I am ready.
The police force set up like a battle line at the River Covington. The Romulans are about to see what it means to be left with nothing. We are not only loyal, we are suicidal in our defense of the capital. We are ready for this.
The battle at the River was brutal. Many a good man and woman lost their life in service to the Phoenix Fleet. The Romulan lines were held. Over the period of 2 days, the Police Force grew from just a bunch of law enforcement officers to a battle hardened unit. The sad truth is we could not hold the line forever. The Romulans were relentless and could restock from space. With three War Birds in Orbit, they could simply overwhelm us.
On the third day, it became evident that the Romulans would soon cross the river. Our battle, though valiant would be lost. I, Captain Robert E. Leo would like it duly noted in the logs that these men and women are more than simply security officers, they are heroes of the Phoenix Fleet. Their service to the Phoenix Fleet, to Star Fleet and to the Phoenix Colony needs to be recorded.
The Romulans entered the water to cross the River Covington. I knew it was over. I lowered the copter and stood with my men. Many raised their arms. The Romulan force was small now. The victory had been assured and the force was directed back to the Village, to Wells City and to the new Bajoran Front at Boston. About 70 Romulans entered the water.
I looked at the men and women.
"It has been an honor serving with you all. I am forever envigorated by your spirit and your sense of duty.", I needed them to know.
The Romulans were just about out of the water when the shots came from behind them. I am Caitain. I am a cat by nature but I could not believe my eyes and how happy I was to see the Anticans. Like me, they had nothing left to live for. They were not about to be crowded onto the cargo bays of New Netherlands. They were not about to have their lands, their home and their livelihood stolen again.
General Robespierre was a lunatic but his men were well trained, well structured and well equipped to fight a terrorist war. The Romulans were soon in total disarray trying to call the ships above. Somehow their message was interfered with. I know this is the influence of the Liwei, our benefactor. To Ranvir and Isaiah, I say thank you.
Soon 70 Romulans were 12 and they were surrendering as the Police and the Antican rebels pulled them from the water. Today, Omega Prime survives. We have done exactly what we hoped. We have bought some time. Now its up to Nicole, to Vincent and to our leaders to bring the real defence; defence from the stars.
I ran up to the Antican commander, "What your name, Sir?"
He looked at me, "My name is Santiago Powers, Rochford was my cousin."
I smiled, "Welcome, Santiago. You are my hero."
I huddled his men together to take their picture. I looked at Santiago, "The people of Omega Prime are pleased to welcome The Dogs of War."
