I did make the announcement. I did inform the citizens of Vorta'Romulus that the colony had fallen to the Romulan Star Empire. I however am not about to become the public spokesperson for an occupying force. I will not read the prepared statement. I will not introduce the Romulan Governor. I will not proclaim Vorta'Rome the capital on the Omega News Network.
Nicole may be an idiot, but this is not her fault. The Romulan Ground Forces were to take back Vorta'Rome from the rebellious T'Ros, they were not to amass in the countryside and take the city of Wells. Their act of aggression is tantamount to a declaration of war on the federation.
We know now that the Romulan Border Task Force destroyed the USS Benfold. We know now that the Romulan Advanced Expansion Unit attempted to take the Dyson Sphere. We know now the Romulans are supplying the Detapa Council's bid to take the outer rim of Cardassian through the Klingon Corridor. All of these actions are furthering the Rise of the Romulans. All we want to know is why? And secondly, how to get them off the damn colony.
The Romulans can pace back and forth in my office all they want. I will not read the statement. I am no puppet.
"Oh my god!! Rochester.", I yelled as they brought in the Antican Professor.
"He is an old man.", I yelled. "Don't hurt him."
I stood up...
"The Romulan Star Empire and its Regional Praetor are proud to proclaim occupation of the capital city of Omega Prime and to declare victory in the invasion of the Omega Planet. With residual pockets of resistance remaining, the Romulan Star Empire and the Colony of Vorta'Romulus are pleased to announce the move of the Capital to Vorta'Rome and to formally announce the closure of the Omega Academy. The school will be converted to a refugee camp with the purpose of removing all non-Romulans from the colony. Purity is Power.", I read without flinching.
The Romulans left without incident leaving Dr. Powers here. I hugged him against my chest. Rochester looked up at me with the puppy dog eyes, "What did we the Anticans do to deserve this?", he asked.
I have another question, "What did any of us do to deserve this?"
