"It will be okay, John. It is the right decision.", T'Zohl walked up behind the newly annointed Fleet Commander. It is how she had foreseen it play out.
John watched as the USS Quasar Quest moved away from the docking clamps and back out into space. The Quest had been his ship. The Double Q had always been his ship. He had fought for the Federation, for the Kng's, for the Omega, for the Phoenix, and even for the Terran Empire.
"Captain S'Nii wil care for the Q. She was born for this role. Like you, she is a rebel. Like you, she was valedictorian of her class at the Academy. Like you, she was removed from her ship. She has earned the right to command the Flagship.", T'Zohl looked at John.
"She is a Vulcan.", John looked his legendary compatriot.
"She is a Vulcan but not like the others.", T'Zohl spoke the words. John knew she was right. The Quest was in good hands. John knew it but how can he watch the ship leave.
John looked out the viewer and frowned. He was in commad of small but important unit of ships in service to Starfleet. He understood his role. He is hear to protect the Omega Enriched Dilithium, to ensure its supply to Betazed and Bajor.
Governor Viceroy arrived from the surface. He looked at John, "You are ready this time John. It is as it should be. I lived for the day when I would retire my service to command a colony and watch my brother Gavin command the King's. When Gavin was taken from me, I never thought I would get to stand here in this moment. Today, I stand here with the closest thing I have left to a brother. We will be King's again."
John smiled. He respected Vincent so much.
