Nicole went to the surface to meet with Major Tanus of Gorn. She told him what she had done for First Lieutenant Kandi Todd. She then told him that she wanted Tanus to assigned Kandi to the Dragons. She provided the Gorn with the target records from the academy.
Tanus was very impressed. He agreed to hire Arkansas Todd on the spot. Nicole asked him about the gender reassignment. Tanus looked at her, "I don't care about gender. I care about shooting."
Kandi and Tanus met on the USS Providence. Tanus watched as Lt. Kandi Todd demostrated a shooting capability that would have been the envy of everyone in the Dragons.
After the session, Kandi looked at Tanus, "Would you like to grab a beer?"
"I would like that.", Tanus smiled.
The pair were soon laughing and joking.
Kandi looked at Tanus, "Why have you been so comfortable in accepting me?"
"I am an outcast too, Lieutenant. I know what it is like to be told that you don't belong.", Tanus looked at Kandi.
She put her hand on his claw. Tanus looked at her. He then went into a medical description about Gorn physiology. Kandi laughed at his stoic medical explanation for having a small appendage.
Kandi did not get the operation for sexual gratification, she got the operation to feel normal.
"I cannot believe you are being so forward.", Kandi looked at Tanus.
"I am sorry. I have embarrassed myself.", Tanus looked at Kandi.
"Don't be embarrassed.", Kandi looked back.
"Teshra returned to the station. Teena died on the Tanmesad. I have not had much luck with women.", Tanus looked at Kandi.
"Maybe you need to have someone with marine toughness.", Kandi smiled.
"Maybe I do.", Tanus smiled.
Kandi did not know any different. She had no measurement of size. To her, Tanus fit just right. This could be the beginning of a beautiful thing.
