The war brought out the worst in many people. One such person was Commander Saehir Marrus who stood with Commander T'Ken when the capital fell to the Romulans. Deveniss was furious with the woman he believed was with him when she stood with her people rather than hid in the mountains with the citizens of Agora Novus and the refugees from Starbase 756.
When the liberation came, Saehir came back to Deveniss but he would not have her. She had much to prove to the leadership of the King's Fleet. When Commander Marrus learned that the Vulcan Victory would be replaced by a Romulan Bird of Prey as part of the peace accord, she accepted the position of Executive Officer to help Captain T'Zohl learn the equipment. She wanted to prove to everyone that she could be a good service person for the King's Fleet.
Deveniss is an old man. He had never wanted a humanoid sexual relationship and when his relationship with Commander Marrus failed, the old boy simply thought his future would be a celibate one. He was quite content to wander the station without a mate... or so he thought.
The war may have hurt some careers but it saved others. Lissan Shran had been removed from the Federation staffing for her poor choices. She had been left as a King's Fleet Commander working at a tactical station on Starbase 756. She would have been very happy to do that. She however used the war as an opportunity. She provided much needed tactical information and war updates to the Federation. For her amazing service, she was restored to Rear Admiral and reassigned as the Federation Observer. Lissan was back, baby!
Admiral James Hatherton came to the new Klingon version of Starbase 756 to meet with Rear Admiral Lissan Shran. He was there to evaluate the Andorian. He looked at her, "Outstanding job on the war effort, Rear Admiral."
"Thank you, Jim.", Lissan smiled.
"I have nothing but good things to report back. You may even be given full Admiral status once more. I just have one question. I have learned from my surface interview with Angeliss of Selay that you have been seen in the company of Admiral Deveniss, her father.", Hatherton looked at Lissan.
"What I do with my personal time is my business and if Viceroy has something to say about that, he can take it up with me.", Lissan snapped.
"May I remind you, Commander, what your behavior cost you last time.", Hatherton mocked.
"You can tell Admiral Viceroy that REAR ADMIRAL Lissan Shran will spend her time with whoever she damn well pleases.", Lissan shouted back.
Hatherton was headed for the shuttles to return to Earth when he saw Lissan exiting the quarters of Admiral Deveniss.
He looked at her, "For shame, Lissan. For shame!"
Lissan giggled, "No, for sex, Jimmie. For sex. Maybe if had more of it, you would not be such a stuck up asshole."
