It began as a sort of post graduate party for S'Nii of Vulcan. She had accepted a graduate student position with the faculty of science and had agreed to stay on at the colony. The party was in celebration. It should have been sooner after the prom but it was delayed by a bitter fight in the relationship between S'Nii and Jorel Enranet after Jorel agreed to forgo a command position in the Cardassian Guard to stay on and be a shuttle pilot on the colony. S"Nii called the move illogical and foolish. Jorel however said that he loved her and was not prepared to leave her behind.
S'Nii and Jorel's fight delayed the party. Jorel literally begged his Vulcan to take him back. She finally capitulated. Theirs is a special relationship and the party was back on.
Mary-Lou Cole continues to feel the heat from RICKS as the more seasoned crowd no longer comes to the Commune and its pulsating interplanetary beats preferring the softer environment of RICKS or the Veltkamp Lounge in the Village. Mary-Lou was only too happy to host the student gathering.
In addition to a celebration of S'Nii accepting the graduate position, this was a chance for everyone to welcome Cinnamon Leo, the new student leader. Cinnamon enters her graduate year and gave a beautiful speech about peace on the colony. She will be a fine leader.
There was some worry about electing a Caitian to lead the undergraduates and there was a bit of tension in the Commune at first. However when Colonel Fidelis came over and dance a round with Cinnamon, all was set. Fidelis or "Fido" as he is known in the Omega News Network Media Circle is seen as the voice of reason in the Caitian - Antican tensions. The Colonel and the beautiful Caitian really set the dance floor afire with their awesome performance.
Not to be outdone, Captain Robert E. Leo and Felicity Powers jumped up on the floor and danced the floor ablaze once more with a fine performance. Felicity, a known escort can really set the dance floor on fire with her flowing movements. The pair were equally incredible and the peaceful displays of Anticans and Caitians drew a round of applause from the crowd. The civil war was another dark chapter that the colony was working to put behind them.
Vincent and Bobbi-Lee sat with Mary-Lou. The chatty little ladies pointed out Dr. Orchid Coren and Vice Admiral Nicole Branson sitting together in the back of the room.
Nicole was showing her nerve igniting a cigarette. She had been deeply hurt by the comments made by Antican Attorney Cleveland Powers at the last round of the trial.
Orchid was looking at her in a way that did not reflect their separation. Orchid and Nicole talked quietly.
Mary-Lou turned to Bobbi-Lee, "I wish I could listen in."
The girls both giggled. They were very close and were soon into the wine big time. Vincent and Colonel Fidelis spent more time talking about work while the girls were truly enjoying themselves.
Wendy Smith, the Anthropoligist and Velvet Varno, the Engineering working out of Boston were in for the celebration of Cinnamon Leo. Wendy is a former undergraduate student president too. Wendy and Velvet took their turn to light up the dance floor. Velvet, daughter of Deep Space 84 Chief Diplomatic Officer Gul Thua'ra Varno, is a sweetheart and a dazzling dancer. She lit up the floor with her radiant beauty. Wendy and Velvet remain clearly in love and their romance brought a special audience and onlook from Nicole and Orchid.
Nicole was so happy to be out of her uniform. She was wearing a blazer and running shoes. She cuddled Orchid as they watched the other girls dance on the floor. Nicole wanted to be up there but she respected Orchid's Decision.
She however could feel a new connection between the two. She did not quite know what was happening. Nicole was turning out to be very poor at relationships.
The DJ played a quiet soft song. Robert and Felicity cuddled in on the dance floor. Jorel and S'Nii enjoyed a very special moment. Wendy and Velvet were engaged in a deep full on kiss on the dance floor.
Vincent was drug on to the dance floor but he was truly overjoyed when Bobbi-Lee laid her beautiful head against his chest. He felt alive and young once more.
Christine looked over to check on Nicole and Orchid but could not find them. Being ever inquisitive, she grabbed a media recording tricorder and headed for the back room. The reporter made her discovery...
Nicole was about to mount Orchid. Nicole was deeply hurt by the invasion of privacy. Christine slowly slinked from the room.
Everyone needs to relieve some stress. Mary-Lou came rushing up to Christine, "What did you see?"
Christine looked at Mary-Lou and smiled, "I could not find them."
"Damn.", Mary-Lou smiled going back to her wine.
