"At least I have secured the sub fleet protection agreement for the Beta Zeta Sector. It is not a fleet operations agreement but at least it gives us purpose.", Vincent looked at the group.
"Our first priority must be the protection of the Betazed Home world.", Illyan chirped up.
"Look, Admiral Parker Hatherton demanded that your involvement in the protection of Betazed be assured but our primary function is the restoration of the reputation of the King's Fleet reputation.", Vincent frowned.
"The two could be one in the same.", Admiral Coren looked at Vincent. Both men shared a certain shame in the Romulan invasion. It may be the one thing to put the friendship back on track.
"Look Admiral Deveniss gave up his position in the leadership for you Illyan. ", Vincent snidely looked at the Betazoid.
Illyan shrunk down in his chair. The whole thing I has made them all look incompetent.
Tan looked at Vincent, "I have to ask, what of the colonies."
Vincent looked at the star maps and gave a huge sigh, "Delavan and Darona are a complete loss. Perhaps in time, we will be able to rebuild there. For now, the focus is here and Medara. We have to rebuild. We cannot have another Cheron Vi. We cannot retreat from the Romulans. Again!"
"Who will oversee the reconstruction?", Illyan asked.
"Branson.", Vincent retorted abruptly.
"Why Branson? She through her pips in the garbage.", Tan looked at Viceroy.
"Her failure is on me. I should have known she could not handle it. She is good at colony leadership but failures as a Vice Admiral in the Phoenix Fleet and now here show she cannot make command decisions for vessels and stations. I should have known better. She has to help us rebuild the colony and make it a home once more.", Vincent lectured.
"And if she refuses.", Tan replayed her resignation over and over in his head.
"She does not have an option.". Vincent snapped.
Tan had not seen a forceful Viceroy in a while. It was reassuring to see.
Illyan looked at Viceroy, "And what about a station for the protection of Betazed?"
"In time, Illyan.", Vincent frowned. He walked over and looked out the viewer. How had things gone so wrong?
