The repairs to the Sunrise were extensive. Colonel Teero had already reviewed the possibility of scuttling the Betazoid built vessel if the repairs were not able to guarantee the sanctity of the haul and engine room.
Vincent had the unenviable task of reporting the possible loss to Admiral Laree. Betazoid President Elizabeth Coren would arrive at Reykja Penthe soon. She would not be pleased with td loss.
Colonel Teero, roundly respected around the known worlds as a genius, had already reported the demolition of the orbiting offices of peD cha'paj. Both he and Admiral Tan had worked so hard to reconfigure the station to rival the original Governor's and after the IRW Eagle's Talon attack, she is a complete loss.
Station staff have already begun moving from the cha'paj back to the wej'veQ or down to the academy. Vincent had reported the loss of the potential support station and refuelling point to Starfleet. Admiral Naar'Haaj had already reduced the use of the cha'paj because of the Harper Madison isolationist movement. He simply accepted the report.
Chancellor Dukath Kabarann issued a Klingon battle cry and promised revenge. The Klingons have really taken a beating. In their arrogance, they had toyed with time and been devastated by the King's Fleet incursion into their territories. Now, the Romulans have attacked targets on the fringes of the once proud empire.
Illyan was standing near the viewer wall of Ishka's when Christine came in. He looked at his pointy eared hybrid friend, "Command of the Sunrise was supposed to get me back on track in my career and supposed to get me back in touch with the real people of space. Instead, it looks like they will scuttle my ship and I will be known both here and back home for losing a Betazoid vessel. People will not care about how, they will only ask who was in command at the time."
"You underestimate the empathy of your own people, Illyan. I know that I am in front of the media as the Reykja Broadcasting Corporation face responsible for sharing the events of the King's Fleet and the Colony but I have always maintained my responsibility as information officer. I have seen the personal log entries and letters. Many of the crew on the Sunrise were of Betazoid decent either coming with the ship or choosing to serve aboard her because of her heritage. These people have been spreading the word of your heroics. These people describe you as a lifesaver and a hero, Captain. Many of them are once again saying they would follow you forever.", Christine smiled.
Illyan gave a forced smiled but in truth his heart was buoyed by the letters. Christine put her arm around his shoulders, "Admiral Deveniss is already taking about new assignments. Take me to bed before you have to run off again."
"Is that an order?", Illyan teased.
"Aye, Captain, of the highest priority.", Christine teased.
