No one would help James and Xact build the Santa Maria. They would go to the Academy and up to the stations to ask for help but few wanted to be a part of something in engineering not coordinated by Colonel Teero for fear of getting into trouble and having their crew assignment put into question.
Patrick Hatherton was already on the bottom of the barrel. He was an outcast in the powerful Starfleet Hatherton family and because of his lifestyle choices. He was soon working with James and Tegora to turn Xact Tchilack's equations into a reality. The Santa Maria project was soon filling the region with excitement. Patrick had a lot of nervous and even sexual energy.
Petrine Polley was always more concerned with his fighter and his kill ratios. He had been so cool at first but like a dogfight kill, once conquest has occurred, Petrine was on to the next target. Patrick was left alone and frustrated.
When Paul betrayed the King's Fleet, he left not only his father but also his lover, Franklin Stone. Fluffy was often seen at Ishka's. He was also wallowing in his sorrow. He would often say that as chubby person he did not deserve someone like Paul anyway. He did not deserve someone so beautiful.
Patrick was in the casino one night as Franklin stated that for a long time he had used Orion Syndicate prostitutes to satisfy his urges as a Caitian crime boss. It had worked for a while but when Paul showed him a different kind of love, he could not go back to prostitutes, female or otherwise. Franklin frowned, "I guess I deserve to be alone."
Patrick was alone too. He looked at plump cat and thought about his experiences with the Talosian V Birdman. Was it better to be alone or to be with someone who was not exactly super handsome? Patrick actually chuckled when an image of a chubby old house cat cuddled up on the back of a couch. He remembered petting the cat and how good it actually made him feel.
Patrick went back to his quarters. He wanted to change into something special.
Franklin came upstairs from the casino and opened the door to the sight. He looked at Patrick, "Are you sure?"
Patrick smiled, "Get over here. We have a ship christening to celebrate."
Fluffy giggled, "Yes, Ma'am."
The word ma'am made Patrick feel very lady like. He was overjoyed.
