Bridgette Tchilack has endured a horror that few would be able to survive. She was part of the Xindi insectoid abduction project. She went from a simple high school cheerleader on Earth and to a horror monster that had suffered through a genetic reorganization. This monster would be transferred from ship to ship as few would take responsibility for the monster or had a willingness to acknowledge her human heritage.
Finally, she had found a home. She had moved from mere janitor to engineer. She had moved from working nightshift literally sifting through the dirt in ship engine rooms. She had proceeded through the larval, and pupal stages of her insect being to become a literally a butterfly. She had gone from outcast to lover of Major Philadelphia Todd. She had found her miracle. She had been rescued from her plight by her Prince Charming.
The miracle would not have a happy ending. In the insect tradition, her body became a male in an effort to preserve its existence. In a true love story, Philadelphia Todd became Della Todd to maintain their relationship. This was a miracle of devotion especially given Della's very tough, straight laced upbringing.
Perhaps it was the logs of T'Zohl of Vulcan that reminded her of what could have been, but Teshra Trmel began to become less enamoured with her relationship with Colonel Tanus of Gorn. She was soon spending more time on the surface with the regular marine corp than with Tanus and his Special Forces in the KFIA. They were drifting apart for a second time. The passion of the war had been wonderful for their relationship but with the Breen withdrawal, that passion had subsided and so had their relationship.
Bridgette had never expected to have the miracle of beauty return once more but Dr. Skylight Greene, so influential in the doctoral thesis of Dr. Nicole Branson in the development of Branson Beauty, refused to give up on her beauty and worked feverishly to give that young cheerleader a second chance.
Philadelphia Todd would be given the first view of his former lover. Her beauty was so amazing. Phil was soon in the same doctor's chair restoring his masculinity and as quickly as possible in the arms of his beloved Bridgette. This should have been the end of the story but this is life on the colony. Things are rarely as they seem and most definitely as simple.
Phil himself had written his own logs about how it felt to lose his female virginity and the pain he felt at the insertion. Somehow the mixture of pain and pleasure of insertion had changed the once straight laced and powerful marine. He was once again in the arms of his Bridgette but somehow he thought of his life as Della. In the privacy of sessions with Dr. Greene he made the confession that he missed the insertions. Dr. Greene informed Phil that his DNA could end up in a flux if he tried to change back once more. Phil understood. He would have to understand his feelings.
Philadelphia Todd and Colonel Tanus of Gorn had served on the ground at Reykja Qam'Chee. They had seen such horrors together. They were in the casino getting sloshed when Tanus drunkenly swore off women over losing Teshra Trmel. Tanus frowned, "It is too bad because there are so many things that are cool about females; the way they dress and the way they smell."
Tanus grumbled about the infamous size of his manhood and grumbled about his failed relationship with Paul Warren and spoke highly about Paul dressing like a woman and about the better fit of the point of entry. Phil listened carefully. The men drank themselves silly.
In 2395, the manipulation of genetic appearance is commonplace. People will routinely visit the ropyah Qach to make their appearance more youthful. Persons of elderly age appear on the streets of Camelot looking like persons in their twenties. Phil Todd was a muscular specimen. He has done a wonderful things to build a gorgeous marine body. When he came to the Qach, most thought it was to make his muscular structure tighter but when he asked for help with body mass and body tightness, it seemed weird. Why would he want to be skinnier and less muscular?
Tanus had a big head when he went to the KFIA buildings. He finished his shift. He went up to the Dragons Command apartment to just get some rest before heading back into the city. He walked into the apartment. He turned on the lights for a surprise.
"And who might you be?", Tanus exclaimed.
Philadelphia Todd turned around, "There is just something about the insertion that changes a person."
Tanus looked at the Major, "There is no going back. You will lose Bridgette, your reputation and all of these things."
Philadelphia looked at Tanus, "Are you affected by your choice to engage in a relationship with Paul Warren or even with General Belvedere Brown? Is your ability to command called into question by our personal choices? I think not."
"I am a soldier. I will always be a soldier. I make this choice because of a change that occurred in me.", Phil looked at Tanus, "Now get over here."
Tanus looked at Phil, "You do look incredible in your little jean shorts."
Phil smiled. Tanus looked at him, "Now lets get you out of them."
