The Geo-thermal core of the Typhon Expanse asteroid that has become known as the Phoenix Colony is no where near as active as that of the Omega Planet. The systems, brought so effeciently by Sparta to the colony are now running down. Where once, the city lights were brilliant and beautiful, they are now dull and yellow. It is contributing to the mood of the colony.
Quoting Commander Yasushi Yamamoto, Executive Officer of the USS Wrath of Achilles, the Typhon Expanse is filled with Temporal Energy as evidenced by the experiences endured by Vice Admiral Nicole Branson during the attack on the colony. This energy is incredibly powerful. The amount of energy required to bend time is immense.
Commodore Vincent Viceroy and Commander Acrylos Teero have invested a ton of time in trying to capture this energy but have been sidetracked by the politics of the Phoenix Federation. Now, with Nicole in hiding at Vorta' Rome and the Federation itself engaging in the "Elect William Hunt" movement that is gaining steam, Vincent needed to make this work.
Vincent and Acrylos were going over the equations and looking at the massive collectors built by Teero; widely respected as the best engineer in the region, if not in the entire universe.
Vincent and Acrylos took the engines up to the north pole of the Asteroid. Vincent looked at Acrylos, "Will it work?"
"It will work", Acrylos smiled, "We will bond with the sky"
Vincent watched as the engines were put into place.
Vincent and Acrylos banked their service shuttle and headed for the capital.
Vincent landed the shuttle and walked with Acrylos to the Jake Anderson Parkway, still lightly lit with the orange hued lights.
"Well, Ace, crank it up; bond with the sky.", Vincent smiled.
"Wait a sec.", Acrylos smiled.
A hover limo showed up with Bobbi-Lee Kennedy and Mary-Lou Cole with several bottles of wine. Acrylos looked at Vincent, "We can't have a launching without champagne."
"If this works, Teero, you can have any bottle in the universe.", the governor laughed as Bobbi-Lee hugged him.
Acrylos looked at Mary-Lou, "Bond with the sky."
He engaged the engines. The hum could be felt as far away as Wells City. They would know soon enough.
As the lights in the city began to light up and the lights in the Village across the River Covington came on, Acrylos looked at Vincent and saluted, "As you wish, Commodore."
Vincent smiled, but did not salute back, instead raising his hand above his head. Acrylos laughed at the positively human gesture but did not leave him hanging.
This was a high five moment. The colony is alive and well.
The lights are on and we have bonded with the sky.
