The Romulans gave an inkling of where they were going when they attacked the prison at Rura Penthe. The Romulans have announced an allegiance with the House of Larle in the brutal Klingon Civil War.
Worse yet, the House of Larle has announced a plan to assume the mantle of the Chancellery and have the Klingon Empire join the Romulan Star Empire rather than stay aligned with the Federation and Starfleet.
Things are about to get a lot more interesting for the buffer state of Reykja Penthe, currently operated by the King's Fleet and loyal to the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon House of Kabarann.
