A staunch social division has expressed itself by the lack both of public and institutional support for the federation servicemen and women expected by combatants of most conflicts in history. In a material sense also, Star Fleet Personnel are seen as dinosaurs of a time gone by even though the war for Earth is still on-going. This is a tragic misunderstanding being perpetuated by civilian government anxious to put its military history behind it.
This is a controversial time, but eventually, the military will have to step aside. Star Fleet needs to help develop the same systems within the civilian class that made the colony successful.
The Romulan occupation and V'Ros Wars veterans need to put their ownership of the colony in the past and allow the civilians to begin to run their own affairs.
All of these things are accepted as facts however it does not mean that the Star Fleet Personnel should be shunned or mistreated. This is the social division I am observing over and over again. These colonists are too soon forgetting the sacrifices made by Rear Admiral Jake Anderson, Commodore Vincent Viceroy and Vice Admiral Nicole Branson in the early days of Outpost 294. The fact are such that the colony must stand on the civilian government but that civilian government cannot stand without Star Fleet and must realize its duty, order and necessity.
