Death changes you. Time may be relative. Existence may be relative. Lindsay Viceroy died in service to the King's Fleet only to be rediscovered in a time vortex. She had played an integral part in the true coming out of Captain S’Nii of Vulcan as the emotion embracing Vulcan began to show her true self.
Emotion can be a powerful thing but for all the positives love can bring, it also carries the horrors of pain when someone close to you dies. Lindsay died. S’Nii who had begun to embrace her human name. She truly was Sunny. The death devastated the Vulcan.
She got her Lindsay back. Things should be so rosy but the problems have centered around S’Nii’s struggles as a commanding officer and worse yet Lindsay’s belief that she was robbed of eternal joy by her rebirth.
These horrors have been exacerbated by the sheer terror of living on Cannibal Camelot and coming out of the Romulan attack that devastated the King’s Fleet. Lindsay was not the giggly little technician that found her way aboard the Tanmesad. She was a sullen survivor and nothing more.
S’Nii was not the simple rebel who left Vulcan to embrace her emotional side. She was devastated at losing Lindsay, the person who brought her out of her shell. Lindsay also helped S’Nii through her failures as a Captain including scuttling the Archangel.
The ladies survived the second Starfleet attack on Badlands 827 to serve in Tactics aboard the Quest. John came down to see the ladies manning the Tactical Station. They were utterly silent. John joked that it was not a funeral home. The joke went over very poorly. Death was not a joke between the girls.
John reached down and took Lindsay’s hand and put it on top of S’Nii’s. I bet it was the first time the girls had touched each other since the extraction from Badlands 827. S’Nii looked at Lindsay. She gave a little smile. Lindsay looked at John but went back to pushing buttons on the console.
Like her famous Uncle Vincent, Lindsay may have been broken by the most recent devastation that has followed the King’s Fleet.
All members of this crew have to get back to doing what they do and to being who they are if there is any chance of running away from the plan to shut them down.
