The Rhodes Island Class vessels rose to prominence when the USS Voyager was lost in the Delta Quadrant but the USS Providence commanded first by Captain Vanessa Sanders earned tremendous praise for its work in the outer reaches of the Sol System dealing with raiders. The ship has a wonderful history of its own.
When the Tellarites offered a Rhodes Island Class back to the King’s Fleet, Colonel Acrylos Teero jumped at the opportunity to get the smaller and more manueverable vessel into his Engineering Department. He was only too happy to take command of the Providence and use its size and maneuverability to help Admiral Tan rebuild Cradol Station.
Colonel Teero took the Vulcan T’Oy as his first officer. The former NX Lexington First Officer has been learning about life in 2400 and is now learning engineering at this advanced level first hand dealing with industrial replication and construction. The history of the NX Lexington and its cannibal past haunts the Vulcan and having a difficult learning curve has been wonderful in keeping her mind off what happened aboard the Lexington.
Colonel Teero has added Ambassador Xact Tchilack to his staff. The Edosian-Xindi hybrid is a genius and his size and multi-limbs are very useful in repairing Cradol Station or assisting in construction in Camelot, the city on the Cradol Colony surface.
Rounding out his staff is the Aquarian Rhythm Dennyson. Despite the limitations of her hover chair, necessary to keep her aquatic bottom half healthy and alive, she has become a very competent engineer and as the former commanding officer and governor of Atlanta, a former Phoenix Fleet colony, she understands the complicated logistics of housing more than 5 millon Romulan refugees. She has been instrumental in helping Governor Branson and Mayor Marrus process these Romulans without incident.
Colonel Teero has been using Tellarite Labourers aboard the Providence and as labourer aboard Cradol Station offering asylum and potentially rank to help his engineering efforts. The Tellarites have been excited by the possibility of moving beyond just seaman or infantry personnel in the Tellarite Fleet.
Of the vessels in the rebuilding King’s Fleet, the supply running USS Providence has thus far been the busiest. The Bajoran was all smiles as he provided his ship logs to Captain John Warren and Admiral Deveniss with the Fleet Command. It was good to see him smile again.
