Understanding the Leadership Empty
PostSubject: Understanding the Leadership   Understanding the Leadership EmptySun Jun 18, 2023 7:03 pm

Admiral Deveniss was taken aback by Admiral Moyer’s eerie understanding of the Section 31 operations surrounding the death of Admiral Vincent Viceroy, Gul Vash Enranet and the Gul Thua’ra Varno over the Imperial Incursion and the quote-unquote repairing of the timeline in 2400. The Selayan did not like that Gabriel did not outright speak out against Cameron Viceroy or Agent BTU, the Grey. He was still trying to read the new human leader of the King’s Fleet.

Commander Jamie Warren, the Trill host of Captain John Warren, legendary commanding officer of the USS Quasar Quest was having the same struggles figuring out Captain Christian Moyer, ironically the son of Admiral Gabriel Moyer. Jamie knows the Quest better than anyone in the galaxy. She can fly it. She can manage its engines but because of Trill portion of her existence, she is being asked to serve as a Commander aboard the flagship. She is struggling with her role.

Aboard Governor’s Station for a briefing, Jamie was assigned to sit with Admiral Deveniss. John and Deveniss were colleagues but not necessarily friends. John hated the intense loyalty of Admiral Viceroy to the Selayan who slept most of the time. Deveniss was only awake 4 to 6 hours per day but Vincent deeply respected his tactical mind and understanding of Starfleet politics. Deveniss was so respected that for a brief period he was the Head of Starfleet Command.

Over an ale, Jamie confessed to the Selayan her struggles with her role aboard the Quest. Her honesty allowed Deveniss to describe the incident involving Section 31 and his own misgivings about the lack of support from the Moyer’s. The pair were soon laughing about where they were. Jamie was even able to tease her far superior officer about the fact that he should already be dead. To which Deveniss made a very, very bad zombie impression. It was like a low budget horror movie version.

Jamie laughed and laughed. She could not believe how comfortable she felt around the Selayan. He just had a great way about him.

As she got up from the table, she said, “I hope we can do this again sometime.”

She could not believe the words came out of her mouth. Admiral Deveniss looked up, “I would like that.”

Jamie was walking down to the Flight Commander’s briefing when she felt a queasy feeling in her stomach and in her torso. This was her first such experience as a female. Jamie looked back at the robed Selayan gently sauntering back to his quarters. She shook her head hard.

“Come on, Jamie.”, she whispered, “That’s just silly.”

She could not help herself. She looked back again. Oh god, she was crushing on the Selayan. She shock her head again.

“Silly girl.”
