Admiral Wilson showed up in the same promenade where Admiral Gabriel Moyer had already caused the King’s Fleet so much joy. Wilson began to describe the Starfleet initiative towards the Klingon Empire forces not loyal to the treaty. He calmly described the battle and the potential for casualties.
Retired Colonel turned FNN Reporter Belvedere Brown challenged the Starfleet Commander in Chief. Wilson reminded the good reporter of his place.
Colonel Trapor of Gorn walked with the Antican legendary leader of the Dogs of War, “You were a little loud in there.”
“I don’t like to see the Federation engaging in a real war with the Klingons. The brutality will be the stuff of legend.”, Colonel Brown looked at the Gorn.
Commander Jamie Warren, commanding officer of the USS Quasar Quest joined the two soldiers. The Trill host of legendary Captain John Warren actually started to cry after learning of the engagements in the Klingon theatre.
Admiral Moyer walked in on the threesome, “What’s wrong with her?”
“War may have broken out, Admiral.”, Colonel Trapor frowned.
Christian all but smiled. He has wanted the King’s Fleet to be more important in the Federation-Klingon Tensions. The Fleet Admiral went to find Governor Branson.
Belvedere Brown went to see Admiral Wilson to try to reason with the Starfleet Commander in Chief. Wilson explained to the retired colonel that the regional fleet authorities are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Starfleet has over 80000 ships. The King’s Fleet has 6.
Brown was humbled by the event. He went to see Admiral Deveniss who informed him bluntly that the Fleet Admiral was not wrong. Brown was not bouyed by the meeting with the aged Selayan either. This was not what he had intended his retirement to be. There was not supposed to be a Klingon conflict.
Brown went to find Commander Warren. He found the Double Q commanding officer in the mess haul. He sat down upset. Jamie told him that he could eat. The retired Colonel finally capitulated joined the Trill in supper. Christian came walking in. Jamie looked at the youthful King’s Fleet Commander in Chief. Christian has a tough gig. He was not ready. He was no Vincent Viceroy. He was likely not even a Gabriel Moyer.
Jamie remembered him on the bridge of the Quest when Christian was the Provisional Captain and working as the Chief Tactical Officer aboard the ship. He is still the same lost kid. He just had greater responsibility.
Jamie looked at Christian, “Sit down, Admiral. We all have to eat.”
The King’s Fleet may be small but it’s a family.
