Sometimes things move very quickly. Starfleet was clearly concerned with the potential damage caused by the potential Romulan Plant of President Vincent Viceroy. The trouble is Admiral Walter Wilson was still struggling with first the betrayal of his daughter in joining the King’s Fleet, then her death and her miraculous reappearance. This was subsequently followed up by the horrors of the Gowron Array Burst that eliminated the holo-projected beings including Monica Wilson.
Walter Wilson was in no position to lead Starfleet. Admiral Gabriel Moyer has had an interesting year. He had all but retired when he was drug back into service with the King’s Fleet and then at the urging of Admiral Moro, the Kelpian, he had rejoined Starfleet. Who would have ever thought that in the power vacuum created by Admiral Walter Wilson’s horrifying post traumatic stress disorder of his daughter that Admiral Gabriel Moyer would become Head of Starfleet Command.
The move amongst the joint chiefs was a shocking one and then as per the King’s Fleet protocol, the use of a high intensity radio wave blast removed any remaining holo-projected personnel at Starbase One. The truth was revealed. President Vincent Viceroy was a plant. The Romulans had clearly infiltrated Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets civilian political structure. There is no telling what they were able to glean from the influence.
In a shocking move, Admiral Gabriel Moyer installed his son, former King’s Fleet Commander in Chief Christian Moyer as the President of the United Federation of Planets. What a ride! Christian had gone from provisional captain aboard the USS Quasar Quest serving as Chief Tactical Officer to learn from Captain John Warren to King’s Fleet Commander in Chief to now the President of the United Federation of Planets in just a few years. The moves rocked Earth, Memory-Alpha and Starbase One but the moves had an even greater impact on the King’s Fleet.
Because Admiral Deveniss requires a great deal of sleep and Admiral Tan is a highly structured clerk, they are not truly fit to lead the King’s Fleet and the Fleet is without a leader. In a bizarre move, Admiral Illyan Coren, himself an aged Betazoid has assumed command of the King’s Fleet. Twice before, the Betazoid has been in charge but never like this.
Deveniss approach Illyan believing that Constantine would become his deputy. The Selayan was very pleased to learn that Admiral Illyan Coren wanted him to stay on as the Deputy Commander in Chief. Illyan credited the Selayan with keeping the fleet and its ships alive in the two years of darkness after the fall of Medara.
Illyan also announced that he would keep Admiral Tan as the Chief of Staff. The Hierarchy Clanner was the perfect bureaucrat for the job. Tan made some immediate first moves. Upset that General Belvedere Brown had sided with Starfleet and Admiral Gabriel Moyer, he installed Colonel Rommel Tabby in charge of the Dogs of War. Having a Caitian in charge of the Antican Unit would assuredly piss off General Brown. He also promoted Colonel Bismarck Einstein to lead the Zombies and Admiral Trochea of Gorn to lead the Dragons in honour of Major Tanus of Gorn who founded the legendary fighting unit.
After Colonel Trapor’s Family Recruiting Drive proved successful, Admiral Tan also added Thua’sh (pronounced Thosh) Lyun to the crew of the Tanmesad. Like her half sister, Vash’ra Lyun of the Plato, Thua’sh is the daughter of Lashanra Lyun and either Vash Enranet or Thua’ra Varno, no one is quite sure.
The Tanmesad also welcomed Lt. Natasha Branson, daughter of Nicolas Branson, cousin of Nicole and Nancy. Governor Bernice Branson was not thrilled that her second cousin was in the danger zone of the Klingon conflict and now the heightened Romulan information thefts. She was furious with Tan for the recruitment but Natasha wanted to come and the Tanmesad is a fine ship. She and Toronto Trmel have already formed a bit of bond.
The Pope also welcomed two new staff members, a Xindi Insectoid named Sigmund Formicae as the ship’s counsellor and Dr. Lambert Tollefsson as the new doctor. The beautiful blond Lambert, named for her mother Lacey Lambert is the daughter of Admiral Anders Tollefsson and has washed out of multiple vessels in her career for not giving much effort. She is notoriously lazy and is often referred to as Lame Lambert.
The methane breathing benzite android Bennie has graduated the academy and assumed a position on the helm of the Quasar Quest, a plumb posting but her flight command scores are amongst the highest ever recorded including such legends as Tchilick Tchilack and T’Zohl of Vulcan. She is joined on the helm by recent Starfleet graduate Inoki Soto who wanted a bridge posting and the only way to get one was to join a regional fleet authority. He too has very high scores on the helm of a starship. Commander Sunny Jo Warren has a good duo on her hands.
These changes are going to be so important. What do the Romulans know? What are the Klingons up to?
