"William, it's Nicole.", Nicole spoke into the screen.
William was getting ready for a meeting with the Romulan, Vulcan, and Federation Ambassadors when the call was routed the Fireside Tavern in New Tallos. " Hi Nicole, its great to see you. How can I help?" He said.
"President Hunt, we would like to solidify the role of the civilian government on the Phoenix Colony. Cleveland Powers, the Dogfather, is putting pressure on Governor Mandu and the colony would like to ensure that that pressure is muted by a greater civilian government, something closely related to the Phoenix Federation.", Nicole mused.
"I see" William said thinking things over. "I guess this is as good as time as any to bring this matter up then. With Tim overseeing the Fleet I think your talents would be better suited as the Vice President of the Phoenix Federation. Now this means you would have to retire as a Starfleet Admiral and become a Civilian but you would have the power of the Phoenix Federation Government behind you." He said wondering what her reaction is going to be.
"Oh my god, would I have to leave the Colony?", Nicole clasped both hands to her cheeks.
"I love it here. I have big ownership of its success and the whole point of improving my civilian position was to help the colony out.", Nicole almost begged William to leave her on the colony.
"Don't worry Nicole you can continue to live on the colony. However their will be times that I will need you at New Terra for either council meetings or other important events and of course you will need to be here on New Terra when we make the announcement of you becoming Vice President. So until then you can not tell anyone not even your wife and daughter." He said wanting her to understand he's only saying that to protect her until he can have security put in place around her wife and daughter.
"I can handle that.", Nicole smiled, smartly. She thought of Cleveland Powers and his attempt to garner favor with Governor Mandu. She could not wait to see his face when she is announced as Phoenix Federation Vice President.
"What do I tell my family when I leave for New Terra?", Nicole asked.
"Silly bring them with and tell them your coming to see Uncle William because he has a surprise for them all." William said with a laugh. "And its not lying this is a surprise "
"Fantastic. I cannot stand another Vulcan grandstanding gala, gloating over gaining control of the Omega Sands.", Nicole put her hands on her hips looking more like a debutante in a humpf than a Star Fleet Officer.
"We will make arrangements to leave as soon as I can speak to the Commodore.", Nicole responded.
"If you tell him when you leave make sure he promises not to tell anyone. I will have send the wildfire to pick you and everyone up." he said
"Thank you very much for all this, Mr. President.", Nicole's tone changed from her coy self to very professional. She knew that trumping the Antican Cleveland Powers was critical to keep control of the colony and the Omega Sands Dilithium distribution.
"Your welcome I'll see you soon." he replied and closed the channel.
