Vincent went to work almost immediately after learning of the truth from Captain John Warren and Captain S'Nii. The Commodore had no desire to see Nicole suffer at the hands of Cleveland Powers. Powers needed to understand where the power on the Colony laid; not with the crime lords but with Star Fleet and the Federation civilian government. The pictures published by Christine T'Nley only served to prove the innocence of Magenta Coren-Branson but no judge would hear the evidence based upon some stolen security image.
A judge however would hear the evidence from a combadge recording by Captain S'Nii. Vincent soon had the judge listening to the information. The judge agreed to meet with Magenta Coren Branson once more. Vincent Viceroy, Magenta Coren-Branson and the Judge met at the Federation Complex and the entire incident was recounted once more.
The judge took detailed notes as she listened to Magenta tell of being attacked by the intelligence officer, of being rescued by Nicole Branson and of having the officer realize his mistake and attack Nicole Branson. Magenta looked at the picture presented by the Judge, the very picture presented by Christine T'Nley in the Omega News Network. The judge was truly moved by the testimony of Mrs. Coren-Branson. Magenta cried as she told the story of believing that she was about to lose her one true love, Nicole Branson.
Vincent turned to the judge, "Justice is swift to convict, Madam Justice. Justice should be just as swift to acquit"
The judge turned to Vincent, "Commodore, why would Star Fleet Intelligence condone an attack on Nicole Branson, particularly one arranged by Cleveland Powers. I find the whole thing very far fetched."
The Commodore stood up, "This is Cleveland Powers we are talking about, madam justice. Surely, organized crime has something to do with the incident."
The judge looked at Vincent, "I will do this, Mr. Viceroy. If Captain S'Nii will testify, I will stay the charges against Lt. Magenta Coren-Branson."
Vincent dispatched his neice, Lindsay Viceroy to Governor's Tower to fetch Captain S'Nii. The Vulcan walked in and stood there with Rear Admiral Eugenio Coren and his lovely wife Elizabeth. S'Nii looked at Lindsay, "Where do I go?"
"In there.", Lindsay pointed.
S'Nii looked at Lindsay. Lindsay patted her on the back, "This is a wonderful thing you are doing."
S'Nii looked at the judge. They were in there for a long time. The judge soon invited in Rear Admiral Eugenio Branson and Elizabeth Branson. Vincent came out as Nicole arrived. The pair stood there and watched the door.
Soon, Magenta and her parents emerged from the door. Nicole looked at Magenta. The pair just stood there for a long time.
A thousand memories raced through both of their heads. The truth is the "longest day" was now over.
