Christine and Cole were planning to attend the Omega Prime - Rome soccer game. Christine came from her home in the Village to Paris and was getting changed into a nice evening gown when she came out of the bathroom area of the beautiful home of the Mayor. Cole was laying on the couch in a business suit reading from a PADD. Christine never thought anything of it as the beautiful Romulan-Vulcan hybrid continued to get dressed.
The dog (Canis lupus familiaris, pronounced /ˈkeɪ.nɪs ˈluːpəs fʌˈmɪliɛərɪs/) is a domesticated form of the wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. The term is used for both feral and pet varieties. The domestic dog has been one of the most widely kept working and companion animals in human history. The word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species, as opposed to the word "bitch" for the female of the species.
The dog quickly became ubiquitous across culture across the world, and was extremely valuable to early human settlements. For instance, it is believed that the successful emigration across the Bering Strait might not have been possible without sled dogs.[5] Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, protection, assisting police and military, companionship, and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals. This versatility, more than almost any other known animal, has given them the nickname "Man's best friend" in the western world. Currently, there are estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.
Cole read the text from the Earth history document. Christine looked over, "So."
"What you are saying is that this is the origin of much of the prejudice towards Anticans on the colony, in Wells City and in Omega Prime. Humans and perhaps the other humanoid species see as as related to these domesticated dogs.", Cole grumbled.
"What does it matter?", Christine looked at Cole.
"Stand up, you are gonna wrinkle your suit.", Christine pulled Cole up.
She took her hand and swept some dust from his suit.
"So, you can order me around like I am your pet. That's what its called right, 'a pet'", Cole complained.
"Cole, you are taking this too seriously.", Christine picked up the PADD and tossed it to the table.
"Look, no one ever put your distant relatives on leashes. What you think if people thought of you on a leash when they saw you.", Cole shouted.
"Easy, big boy.", Christine forced a smle. She was not ready to have a fight.
She reached for his paw. He pulled his hand away, "What if I put you on a leash?"
Christine snapped, "If it will make you feel better."
Cole shoved her onto the couch. The Antican was very strong. Christine was afraid for a moment as Cole walked over to the replicator.
Christine slowly got up but the Antican put his hand on her shoulder and wrapped the leash around her neck. Cole rolled her on to the floor.
Christine sat on her honches. She felt humbled and embarrassed. She looked up at Cole with sheepish eyes.
Cole looked down at her, "Not very nice is it."
Christine just sat there. Cole looked at her, "This is how these people see us."
Cole reached in his pocket and pulled out the key, "I will see you at the game."
Christine sat there for a moment and just cried. She slowly undid the collar. She held it in her hand for a while. She headed to the game. She needed a diversion after their little lovers spat.
Christine arrived at the game to a bevy of reporter rushing out the stadium. Cole pushed his way through. He stood next to Christine. He looked at her as the Reporters began shouting questions about their relationship.
Cole looked down, "Christine, I am so sorry. I never meant for this to happen."
Christine looked at Cole, "What to happen?"
Cole reached into his coat and activated a PADD viewer. ONN had the picture of Christine on a leash and the caption, "Can the media be trusted if it is being lead around by the Anticans?"
Christine took a huge breath as her mouth opened in shock. Christine looked at Cole, "I can't see you ever again!"
A tear streamed down the blond collie face of the Mayor of Paris. He knew he had messed this up. He wanted her to feel the humiliation of being associated with a domesticated dog but he never wanted her to feel this humiliation. Cole put his forehead against hers, "Please understand that I am sorry."
Christine walked back to the hover car.... Alone!
