Nicole had not heard from her triumvirate of rescuers since they departed for Rome. She worried about the 3 women a great deal. D'Solos was a mere child. Commander T'tan had an axe to grind with the Romulans and may not be able to stay in character and Commander T'Zohl was too unpredictable because of her being around Captain John Warren so much. Nicole was stressed.
Magenta had been out to Wells City to see her parents. Eugenio and Elizabeth tried to explain their involvement with the Romulans and in the disappearance of Brenna Montgomery. Elizabeth had the nerve to say to Magenta, "We have your best interests at heart. Dear, you are Betazoid, you have so much love to give. You should have a Betazoid mate. A Betazoid male mate."
Magenta thought they were over this. She thought they were finished with this behavior. She remembered her childhood when her mother would try to scare her from being a homosexual. Magenta could not believe a species who knew so much about love, who understood feelings perhaps better than anyone in the universe could have such feelings.
Magenta arrived just after Nicole. Nicole was putting Brenna to bed when Magenta came in. The girls had fought a lot in recent history. It almost appears as if this may be the so-called "Dead Cat Bounce" ~ the temporary bounce back when something seems alive once more. Even a dead cat will bounce if you throw it out the window. Magenta looked at Nicole, "How are we?"
"I don't know. We have been hurtful. You left me during a difficult tme. How are we?", Nicole answered.
"Can I tell you a secret?", Magenta asked.
"Of course.", Nicole responded.
