Robert called home. He was literally about to start to crying after learning that Rear Admiral Jake Anderson had stepped down from Command of the Outpost and the Academy. The colony also had not had supplies in nearly a week and half. The Replicators were still functional but most of the real food supplies had virtually dried up.
Robert, as a police officer was still out on the beat maintaining order and peace despite the shortages. The Colony had only learned bits and pieces about the Cardassian Civil Conflict. Most here did not give a damn about the Hebetian Government or its interests. They wanted cloth for clothing and parts for more replicators.
Robert went to BLACK for a coffee only to discover that the specialty house had only replicated coffee. Robert was impressed by the taste but disappointed. Bobbi-Lee had the best coffee in the Academy. The two talked for a while and talked about Mary-Lou's crush on the Rear Admiral. They laughed and chatted well into the morning before Robert hoped the bus for his shift.
Bobbi-Lee is a Kennedy. She has cash but she is developing a serious crush and a bit of a curiousity about the Caitian. She waved a girlish wave. Robert simply nodded.
Despite the chaos at City Hall, a mere microcasm of the chaos within the politics of the quadrant, Robert was simply going to work. For him, Day to Day Operations did not change.
Robert could not help but wonder. Should I start looking for work?
