Growing Up On The Farm Empty
PostSubject: Growing Up On The Farm   Growing Up On The Farm EmptyMon May 19, 2014 6:13 pm

Betsy went over to the clinic to see Sonja. She sat with the young lady in the service container. She looked at her, "My parents were taken from our town to work in the Dilithium mines."

"I was taken from the Academy to guarantee access to the mines., Sonja frowned.

The words echoed right to Betsy's soul. She had a built up hatred of all Tellarites when in reality she hated the persons who took her parents. Betsy felt stupid in that moment. She replied her horrid words to Nicole in her mind. She replayed history in her mind. Often, grand generalizations are made out of specific events.

Betsy looked at Sonja, "Are you able to leave here?"

"Not yet.", Sonja looked at the door. She was looking less bruised from the Klingon attacks. The door was always open but Dr. Greene had not tried to force her out.

Betsy walked out and then looked back, "Feel better."

The words were almost difficult to get out. She never thought she would ever be able to say those words. The pigs were the enemy.

Betsy went out of the room. She saw a course on prejudism. She wanted to make an effort. If she going to make a move to get Nicole back, she needed to move beyond just stopping in to see Sonja.

The course was taught by a Cheron who had only recently came to Cold Camelot. If anyone knew about prejudice, it was the black and white faced Cheron. Dr. Galan asked each person to explain why they had their biases. Betsy talked about the Bovidae slave history on Tellar Prime. Her history was factual but how long do the children of the oppressors have to pay.

Betsy thought of Gul Enranet and Gul Varno. These gentlemen are people she respected but they had been part of the oppression of Bajor.

Betsy contacted Nicole. She literally begged for another chance. Nicole was deeply hurt by the lack of compassion when Sonja was kidnapped but she was impressed by her efforts to see Sonja and to try to come to grips with her prejudice.

Nicole finally agreed to meet her former student lover.

We will see where this goes.
