Fashion Statement? The marines have been so supportive of the command of General Zoe Beamon. The commandos were resentful of Admiral Deveniss and his movement towards Starfleet MACO operations. They saw themselves as marines and not military assault commandos.
Many marines were critical of Fleet Operations coordinating their duties as well. To quote Colonel Tanus, "Fleet brings the flyers, Dragons bring the FIRE!"
Many in the Zombie command saw Deveniss and Admiral Montgomery as interfering fools and not as the two people most responsible for getting them their own station, training facility and assembly site. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
General Beamon hosted a gala event. She invited all members of the fleet leadership. These marines can be quite hypocritical. Zoe is in a relationship with Admiral Viceroy. The marines had heaped their criticism on Admiral Montgomery for her relationship with the Selayan.
Monica walked into the gala to celebrate Beamon's new rank dressed for the event. If they were going just call her the snake lady, she may as well dress the part. Medusa has entered the building.
