The merger of the two families is something that has been a part of military culture for centuries. From the times of the grand Roman generals where daughters were often pledged to rivals as part of peace accords, the marriages of sons and daugthers to merge powerful families has been something special.
Admiral Alexander Laree has been and is still is a major player in the Betazoid Space Service. He and his wife, Hulanen Laree have been a powerful duo since their wedding and have produced a large family. Hulanen is one of the most respected interspecial relationship experts in the world. Alexander serves as Deep Space 14 Commanding officer and his son, Addison Laree is both a handsome and brilliant young commander running the "Kiss of Death", the Deep Space 14 Wing Commander.
Admiral Illyan Coren, commanding officer of the Betazoid homeworld station, Corinthian Station is quite possibly the most famous Betazed Admiral who helped Betazed become the first bastien of Alpha Quadrant defence when he and Betazoid joined the Phoenix Federation. Though the relationship was short lived, it marked the first defiance and made Admiral Coren one of the most respected leaders in the Federation. His daughter, Dr. Orchid Coren, a survivor of the Phoenix Internment is one of the most well known viral experts in the known worlds. Theirs is the perfect match.
Both Illyan and Alexander know what the union could mean. The pair explained the union to the children and the "Glamourous Life" they could have. Orchid did not want to do it. She loves Nicole. She is here for her family.
Being born into a military family is more or less being drafted into their military structure. Orchid and Addison were soon together. Orchid thought of only Nicole.
She even pushed Addison out of bed a couple of times.
Orchid several times rolled over in bed to see Addison. She lay there staring at him not out of love but out of loyalty; not to Addison but to Illyan.
Orchid has everything. Trista will have everything. This is a great day. Orchid just kept telling herself that. Maybe its better this way.
