"You have got to be f**king kidding me.", Vincent looked at Nicole and Tim as he walked into the Federation Complex.
Admiral Veltkamp knew that Rear Admiral Viceroy had obviously read the PADD provided by the United Federation of Planets and the Phoenix Federation in a joint submission to the Office of the Vice President.
Nicole looked at Vincent, "It will appease the Federation and puts us in a good light as the one who extends the hand of friendship."
"We would be putting someone who has made it clear that they would like to see the Phoenix Colony placed back under Federation control in charge of the enforcement of our charter.", Vincent growled.
"Look, the Federation is looking for a place to hide Paige after the embarrassment surrounding Steven Goddard and the DRS. He is about to be relieved of command of the Starbase and would like not to embarrass him.", Admiral Veltkamp explained.
"So we are supposed to help them hide their mistake.", Vincent growled.
"It would make us look very good.", Nicole explained.
"Look, Nicole. You may be willing to swallow for the Federation but remember what they did and what resulted. The Phoenix Liberation War is not going to be lost in some trade for peace. We fought for something better and now we are giving it all back.", Vincent grumbled.
Nicole looked at Vincent, "Your vote is no."
"In the end, this is a Phoenix Federation decision. It is not a military one. It is your decision. My vote does not count. You are the one taking it up the ....", Vincent scoffed to Nicole.
Nicole hated the sexual reference. She looked at Veltkamp, "Inform the United Federation of Planets that the Phoenix Federation will accept the assignment of Commodore Alexander Paige to the Phoenix Colony as the Judge Advocate General. Inform the Commodore that Anna Baxton will leave for Starbase 185 immediately to pick him up."
Vincent shook his head, "You should take a shower. You look dirty to me."
He turned and headed for his office. Nicole turned to Tim, "Are we doing the right thing?"
"The Phoenix Federation controls the gateway to the Beta Quadrant. The Federation will either have access through negotiations or by force. I would prefer the former.", Tim explained.
"The Phoenix Federation offers an alternative but by sheer size, it is no match for the Federation. No match at all.", Tim continued.
"This is one step closer to improved relations. We need to have such to survive.", Tim put his arm on Nicole's back. He knew she need to be reassured.
