Samantha was unsure why she was pulled out of class aboard the Training ship. She was ecstatic that Nicole as well as the Captain of the wrath of Prometheus agreed to allow her to attend school with all the other Phoenix Colony members. As she approached the conference room where her meeting was supposed to take place she noticed the young women sitting down with a picture of her father William on it. "Good afternoon Cadet Hunt please have a seat." Erica said gesturing for Samantha to take a seat next to her. Samantha was still uncomfortable with sitting as she was still trying to get use to the feeling with her new body.
"Thank you," Samantha replied. "My father informed me that you might be speaking with Jennifer and me and he told me to cooperate even if I don't agree with what you're doing here. He is my father and I respect his judgment. I would like to inquire as to why you're swooning over my dad's picture" replied Samantha as she gave the Observer a look that said not to screw with her family.
"I'm sorry" Erica said blushing "You father is so strong and handsome in the way he carries himself" she said fumbling with her P.A.D.D. Your father is such a sweet man did you know that?"
Unsure of her intentions are Samantha paused to phrase her answer. "My father is a very caring person. He loves the Federation and was said when everything went bad between them. He loves his daughters with all his heart even though when I first was activated I was a confused little girl and it took him and my sister to help me work though it all. He still loves our mother even though she is no longer with us and I was sad when he told me how she passed."
Erica tried not to notice the tears running down the side of Samantha's face as she thought about Amanda. "Yes, I am sorry about your mother. I met her once a long time ago when your father was on Earth after the Phoenix Liberation Wars she was a very strong woman and loved your father a lot."
"Thank you," Samantha replied just sitting there. "Please ask your questions of me so I can get back to my classes and then I would like to ask you one question."
"Very well," Erica replied. Do you think the Phoenix Colony gets appropriate support from the Phoenix Federation overall Government and do you think the government of the Phoenix Colony is dedicated to its performance?"
"From the time I was reactivated when I was stolen by the Federation I have seen my father go above and beyond to support the colony and the other planets in the Phoenix Federation." Samantha answered "and as for the second part of your question my Aunt Nicole would die for this place if it was necessary to save it or protect it and so will many of the civilian leaders. So yes I also feel that the Colony Government is dedicated to its performance even though that Romulan Bitch tried to have me killed.
"Thank you," she said taking a sip of the drink she had. It was the same thing William gave her aboard the Black Dragon. "Do you feel that the citizens of the colony receive good quality training, right from being a young child to being an officer on a star ship and do you think the colony neglects those who are not "smart" enough to be officers?
"I am not at liberty to answer that question as I am a student myself in the Phoenix Academy. From my experience though the teachers as well as the staff are dedicated to the education of all Colony and Phoenix Federation students and do all they can to help them strive. To answer your second part of this question from what my father has taught me and what I have seen in my short time those that do not have what is required to become officers find callings in other work. Some choose to work in the civilian sector, some choose to work in the government, and others work their way up through other forms of the Phoenix Federations Military and Exploration services." Samantha said getting up and ordering herself a Strawberry and Banana smoothie. "I see my father got you hooked on those as well" she said giving Erica a smile.
Erica couldn't help but giggle. "That he did sweetie that he did. I couldn't believe these things were so good. I was told it is an old recipe he got from his family when they were still on Earth. In regards to the security of the Phoenix Federation and mostly the Phoenix Colony can the colony provide for the basic needs of its inhabitants such as food, shelter, water, or any species specific items?"
"Of course they can with the invention of the Replicators and the nearly unlimited power provided by the Sands refineries and the other power generation systems they Colony has an unlimited supply of power, materials, food, and anything that can be grown or replicated. Were you aware that when my dad is not off saving the galaxy or running the government he sits outside our home on New Terra and works at his garden?" Samantha replied remember things that Jenny told her when they were spending time together.
Erica was surprised again that William was not at all what his bio says he is and still found him extremely attractive. "I did not know that but I think it's great that your father enjoys working not with his brain or his brawn but also by being tender and nurturing. It's a very attractive quality in a man." She blushed again before continuing her line of questions with the oldest of the Hunt daughters. "Samantha are there checks and balances to make sure that no one is doing anything outside the colony charter or any illegal activities going on?"
"There is," she said filing the comments about her dad to the side for later review. "The Fleet Security division helps protect us from outside influences, the Colony and local police forces help to maintain that all citizens are following the law and the Civilian Government is elected in. Even my father listens to the people and helps to make changes to make everyone's life easier while making sure they are safe and sound.
"Thank you again," Erica replied. In the event of an emergency what is the response plan, and would you feel safe if a crisis happened on the colony?" she asked finishing off her drink and replicating another.
"Well we have the second largest fleet in the quadrant to defend us. The Black Dragon task force is one of the most advanced fleets around and is capable of defending the planet and other locations. Our academies are producing more and more captains and crews for the newer ships and everyone helps to pitch in an emergency. I feel safer here then I would on any Federation planet."
Clearly impressed by the young woman's answer Erica smiled before asking the final question. Is the colony willing to evaluate its existence on an ongoing basis?"
"They do that now so I see little difference in your question. Now it is my turn to ask you a question." Samantha said. "What is your intent with my father William Hunt?"
"My intention," she stammered. "I um, I like him OK." as she ran out of the conference room. As Erica got further away she pulled around a corner and sunk to the floor crying.
"Is it love?" she says to herself in a whisper. "Could I have fallen in love with a man that I hardly know? How could I have let this happen I was supposed to be the one making them uncomfortable for the Federation and here I am acting like a love sick teenager?"
"Oh my god... it is..."
