Using the amazing subspace technology developed here at Atlantica, the Phoenix Colony is actually able to create a subpsace vacuum allowing a full sized star ship pass through the atmosphere and literally hover next to a major Colony city without formally landing or having the need to maintain orbit.
The so-called Lily Pads will generate an Omega powered subspace field allowing the ship to literally hover in the port of a major colony city. The image of the USS Martin Luthor, normally in space dock at Governor's Station howevering next to Boston will forever engrained in my mind. Incredible!!
