At What Price... Empty
PostSubject: At What Price...   At What Price... EmptySun Jan 02, 2011 4:37 am

The Federation has long forbid the use of active Omega and even enacted the Omega Code requiring any officer to report immediately the finding of the molecule. The colony has always been a cause of concern because of the existence of the Omega enrichment. Its application as a weapon has long been feared by the Federation at either Starbase 185 and now at Starbase 234.

The colonists have always maintained that the enrichment would only be used to enhance the dilithium and triteum for star ship fuel. The colonists have always maintained this high level of honor and put Bill Clinton in charge to prevent any greed from any of the mayors.

On December 22, 2390, The Dragons of Tanus, The Zombies of Zoe Beamon and the Dogs of War under Taryn Strausser and Belvedere Brown entered the city of Kalama beginning a bloody ground war that was over almost as quickly as it started when Zek Ishka and his Ferenginar pirates ignited an Omega Enriched Incendiary in the corridor of the city. The damage was horrendous. It is believed as many as 630 Phoenix Defence League Soldiers lost their lives in the catastrophic explosion.

Governor D'Solos Vreenak had the unenviable task of informing the Phoenix Federation and the United Federation of Planets of the incident in violation of the Omega Code. The Federation was furious. Rear Admiral Eugenio Coren called for the forfeiture of the Phoenix Colony Act of Colonization. D'Solos begged the Federation courts for understanding and claimed the responsibility was that of the Ferengi pirates.

The concessions to keep the colony alive were heavy and brutal. Attorney Kenneth Mitchell outlined the agreement. The Phoenix Colony would withdraw its Hellraisers Exploritory Task Force including the USS Wrath of Prometheus, a significant symbol of the Phoenix Federation Independence. The Eagle and Pioneer would also be grounded as a result of the violation of the arms agreement. D'Solos Vreenak was very embarrassed by having to inform the Phoenix Federation that the symbol of the Phoenix Federation on the colony would now be a museum at the Omega Academy.

Mitchell took great pride in announcing that Brigadier General Belvedere Brown would have to step down as Chairman of the Joint Chief and would be sanctioned as an officer for his failure to determine the possibility that Zek Ishka and his Ferengi Pirates would use an Omega Enriched Explosive in defence of the capital. Vreenak frowned but after firing Branson for a similar mistake, it seemed somehow appropriate.

Watching Kenneth Mitchell and Rear Admiral Eugenio Coren gloat was so painful for Governor Vreenak and the senior staff of the colony. The Federation had gotten what it had always wanted. It had stopped Phoenix Colony Exploration in the Beta Quadrant. The Federation had achieved one of its goals, to embarrass the colony by getting its leadership to ground the USS Wrath of Prometheus, the ship bared the haul of the original USS Wrath of Achilles, the legendary flag ship of the Phoenix Liberation War.

D'Solos looked at Christine as she walked from the room. ONN was gonna have a field day with this one. She looked at Vincent who turned away. This was a dark day for the colony. People died.

Taryn Strausser had seen the very highs in her career. She had served the Federation as a Physics Advisor creating the amazing "Strawberry Effect" weapons amplification system. She had garnered accolades across the United Federation of Planets. She walked away from all that to come here to serve on the Phoenix Colony. She had overcome a man's world to serve as the Dragons Drop Ship Commanding Ship. She had to overcome all the masculinity of the Tanus lead Special Ops Unit.

Taryn's honor would grow even greater when she rose to lead the Dogs of War even earning their respect as the mate of Werner Lenz and on the battlefield at Kalama. She was at the front of the troops in the city center when all hell broke loose.

Today she sits in front of a classroom to teach a group of Omega Academy Students about what happened at Kalama and the horrors of one of the great losses in the history of the Phoenix Colony.

The city of Kalama must be taken from the Ferengi... It must be done...

But at what price...

Taryn has paid a heavy price and has the scars to prove it...
