Caitlin made the call from the Eagle to inform the Colony of the Troop Movement. Vincent and Elora discussed the next move. Vincent was not prepared to start a full out ground battle. Vincent contacted Colonel Brown and dispatched the special forces unit to the area near Kalama.
Tanus and Evangeline were soon on the ground preparing to engage the Federation shock troops. The Dragons had seriously underestimated the size of Admiral Dominic Montgomery's shock troops. The Dragons were soon engaged in a serious fire fight with the Federation operatives.
D'Tall and Alexis manouevered the flying tank to serve as a barrier. The Drop Ship had made it impossible to get a direct hit on the Dragons but it did not give them an advantage. The Dragons were losing. This was the symbol of the Federation movement forward. Tanus has an amazing reputation for the significant performance of his unit, but he was losing here.
The Federation ground forces began to move forward. Major Tanus informed Colonel Belvedere Brown that it was a losing situation and that the Dragons were about to give up their position.
Suddenly, from the right flank, the Klingons engaged the Federation. Tanus screamed words of encouragement to General Hon'Tihl Kabarann as the Klingon general moved in on the Federation.
The Federation began to engage the Klingons on the right flank and the Dragons at the head of the battle front The shock troops were holding their own but any advance was clearly halted.
After several hours, from the left flank came a second force loyal to the Phoenix Colony, the Primatos tribal warriors under Chief Poros. The oversized ape-like Primatos were soon driving the Federation shock troops back to their shuttles.
Soon Tanus, Honey and Poros were merging into the center driving the Federation off the site and into low orbit. The celebration was soon a group of cheering citizens of the Phoenix Colony.
Poros knew that Honey had authorized the Primatos hunt. Tanus and the Klingons had been at war in Kalama. He and his Dragons had been in the center of the city when the Great Hall was left ablaze. These were enemies. These were hated foes.
Honey, Tanus and Poros stood there in the center of the scarred battlefield looking at one another. No words were spoken for a long time.
Finally, Honey looked at Tanus, "This is our home too."
Tanus nodded, "It has been too long since anyone said that. The Phoenix Colony was originally authorized by Admiral Tim Veltkamp to be a home. A home for everyone."
