"The Diana!", Nicole shouted.
"Why the Diana?", Nicole snapped.
"It has to be a ship of value.", Vincent looked at Nicole.
"Star Fleet will not see it as a gesture of loyalty if we don't give them a ship of value.", Vincent explained.
"You are giving the Diana to Alexander Paige. He commanded the Washington when the ship attacked the colony. He supported the Federation attempts to occupy by the colony. To take it back and now you are giving him one of the most important ships in our fleet.", Nicole snapped.
"You know Nicole there is to be no interaction between the civilian government and miltiary activity. I get to decide.", Vincent responded.
Nicole looked at the floor, "What the hell prompted this?"
"Two events... Gul Vash Enranet would seriously like to have Commander Branson back as his XO on the Tanmesad. She too would like to return to the role where she had the most success and the approval of Commander James Cohen the third to take command of the Washington.", Vincent responded.
"Why the heck would Veltkamp and Montgomery do that?", Nicole asked.
"Cohen is a bit of a darling in Star Fleet. They want to give him a command where he can be closely monitored. Giving him the flagship of the Killer's battlegroup will give him an opportunity to become a star. Secondly, this is a dangerous region. If Cohen becomes a problem, they could sacrifice him to the Phoenix Federation, to the Retarnee, to the Zaranites to any of these dangerous races.", Vincent looked out at the stars.
"I wish him the best of luck.", Vincent looked at the stars.
"As do I.", Nicole put her arm on the shoulder of the Commodore.
