Nicole's voice quivered, knowing that the Romulans were in the water and entering the city. This was far worse than any kidnapping. Far worse than any extortion scheme. This was real. This was war.
"They did what!!" Hunt replied angrily "How in the blazes did they get a force big enough to invade our planet.. and what are you doing about it Nicole" Hunt couldn't believe it. Who do they have running this colony anyway.
Nicole could feel the shame in William. She knew she had let him down. In that, she knew that there was only one solution. She had to get the colony back. She turned to Vincent, "You have to help me get the colony back."
"We will do what it takes to get it back, Nicole. I have as much stake in the success of the recovery as you do. We need manpower. We need marines.", Vincent demanded.

One thing to inform the Fleet command, Commander T'Ros of Vorta'Rome is a Colony Loyalist. She may be our ace in the hole. We will get it back. Admiral Hunt wanted to be more supportive but he had his own issues, his own ship and his own mission.

Admiral Hunt showed a little tough love to his wayward starlet. Nicole had been able to slough her way through the colony issues from the Omega Discovery, the two Omega Incidents and even a Borg invasion. This however was different. She was losing. A true commander does not know who they are until they are losing. Your career is measured in how you react.
=/= The Liwei continues to serve as a deterent. The 3 War Birds will not fire on the colony and provoke an air war with the legendary Andromeda Class Super Carrier. They would not dare. =/=
Nicole tried to convince William that there would not be an assault from above. The war would be fought on the ground. It would be won or lost in the trenches.

William was so serious. Nicole had been his protege. He and Admiral Veltkamp rescued her from a life in the civil service. Nicole had been a remarkable find. She can get things done. In the end however, your abilities are measured by your performance in the field.
Nicole could not believe how she sounded. She was actually growing as a leader. All she needed was manpower. Deployment patterns were now set. Nicole turned to Vincent, "There must be retribution."
"And there shall be.", Vincent smiled, trying to reassure her but inside he really thought there was a good chance, they were going to die in this bunker.
