Tania was at Lt. Governor's when it hit her. This used to be her station. This used to be her Fleet. All that was taken from her. She was in the executive of the Flag Ship but she was not in charge. Hatherton and worse yet, the Corens had taken that from her.
Tania was supposed to be getting shipping manifests for some Omega Sands when she looked at the gathering of media standing around Nicole Branson. Tania thought about her daughter and having left her and Nancy to fend for themselves when she was taken by the Borg. She owed Nicole but this could be her one and only chance to right the King's Fleet.
She walked up to the throng of reporters trying to get a word from Nicole. She took a deep breath, "It is my honor to announce that I, Commander Tania Branson will temporarily resign my commission as Executive Officer of the USS Quasar Quest to run for the seat of Governor on the colony of Ephyra in the Beta Ursae Sector."
Nicole was stunned. Christine started to laugh, "The race is on now."
Nicole looked at her mother, "How could you??"
Tania looked at Nicole, "This is not about you, this is about me. Hatherton has taken everything from me. It is time for me to start taking back."
Nicole was furious. Tania looked at Christine, "Nicole claims to offer a fairy tale blended family but with a cheating spouse and a hodgepodge of unwanted and uncared for children..."
"Who are you to talk about uncared for children?!?", Nicole screamed.
Cristine was getting every moment of this for the BBC. Suddenly, the once dormant colony was alive again. There was a choice and the race is on.
