Tania had nothing when she joined the Tanmesad and it was her relationship with the crew and with the Doctor that formed her bonds for life. She thought she was able to set that aside when she met Illyan.
Illyan had lost Loiza and he needed someone. Tania had a bunch of memories rush back of her life with Ivan on the Yellowstone. She and Illyan were immediately bonded by these losses. They became close and had even talked about marriage.
When Catherine learned that Olive Pan'Taar had canvassed Tania Branson to help her bond with with Nicole, Catherine went to Tania to plead her case. Catherine talked about her great shared experiences with Orchid and Magenta and their great love for Nicole. As her mother, Tania too shared a great love for Nicole and a bizarre jealousy over her relationships.
Since taking the role of Fleet Commander, Tania had not been able to have a great bond. Catherine and Tania talked for hours about Nicole, about her great love of Orchid Coren and about her struggles as the Black Widow.
Catherine did not see it. Tania did not see it a bond was forming. Tania remained young and beautiful thanks to her Borg Implants and to 24th century technology. Catherine was young and beautiful.
Catherine soon learned of the incident at the Academy. She too worried about Lindsay and hoped that S'Nii and Lindsay would be able to get throgh the flirtation. Catherine would also learn about the night classes. She leanred about the ongoing flirtation between the pilot and her lady.
Catherine called Tania to sob in her ear. Tania felt a great longing. She had not felt these feelings in a long time. She and Illyan worked apart often and she never felt a longing for him while he was away. Suddenly, she felt it for Catherine.
She broke her silence and spoke her mind. She told Catherine she needed her and needed her now.
Tania rolled over to see a beautiful and naked Catherine laying next to her. This was going to be very tough to explain to Illyan.
