The Caitian - Antican conflict may be over in the physical terms but the racism still has heavy undertones on the colony. Nicole Branson and Tim Veltkamp's dream of making this a place where all can feel at home continues to be a work in progress and is never easy.
Robert has known this as much as anyone after he started hanging around with Felicity Powers, the known escort. Felicity would agree to appear with Robert as long as he paid for everything and continued to provide for her apartment and everything else. Robert knew exactly what she was. She was nothing more than a kept woman and a kept escort.
Robert knew the political will that was gained from them being seen together. Their union helped at least perpetuate the myth of the peace between the Caitians and Anticans if not actually demonstrating its reality. The trouble for Robert is that he was growing more and more fond of Felicity.
He finally told her about his feelings. She at first laughed and told him that he knew what this was and if he tried to make it anything more, she would simply replace him. Robert backed off for a bit but through the trial, he has been back expressing his feelings once more.
Felicity told him that this was a job for her nothing more, literally tearing out his heart. Robert left that morning and was seen at BLACKs with his former cohort, Mary-Lou Cole. Word quickly got back to Felicity. That evening she called Robert. They literally talked all night. Robert was an absolute basket case on the day of the shooting. He was exhausted from talking to Felicity all night. No one needs to know that, but there is always more than meets the eye in these stories.
Robert was overtired and clearly must have missed something. Robert was getting ready for bed on Sunday night, getting ready for another week of the trial and its chaos.
His communicator went off, it was Felicity.
"Robert, I want you to come over.", Felicity asked.
"I have to work tomorrow, Foxy.", Robert responded.
"Pleeee-aassse.", Felicity asked.
Robert slowly got dressed. He was not ready for another night of talking all night. He took the hover car over and chimed in. The door opened slowly.
"Foxy!", He hollered.
"Up here.", She answered.
He went up to her bedroom and opened the door.
Her soft growl made him realize that there would be no talking all night tonight. She had something else in mind.
A peaceful joining of a Caitian and an Antican...
