Paul was on the Operations Deck dressed in his full uniform when Tanus arrived back from the reparation meeting with the Klingons. He was surprised to find Paul had removed all his clothing, both male and female from the quarters they shared.
The Gorn General had gone looking for his often mate and was surprised to see Paul looking so masculine and once again in uniform. He looked at the Commander, "What is going on?"
"I had supper with my father. We are isolated once more. We need to behave as professionally as possible for the King's Fleet to remain prominent and worse yet to just stay alive. My father made that perfectly clear. When things are not operating well, society must retreat into strict parameters in order to function. Abhorrent behaviours or unnatural acts that are not for the societal common good should be tempered until such time as these freedoms can be restored.", Paul spoke in a truly professional manner.
Tanus looked at Paul, "I do not see our behaviour as abhorrent or detrimental to the societal good. I think I love you."
"Please General, such behaviour is unprofessional and not critical to station ops. Please return to the marine bay. I am certain there is work to do.", Paul bluntly almost ordered the marine commandant.
Tanus went downstairs. The marines were having a get together at Leo's to celebrate the Klingon successes. As Commandant, he needed to attend. Tanus was very blue but changed into his dress white tunic and headed down to the club.
The Kabarann had been returned to the Klingon Empire by the King's Fleet as part of the reparations for the ground attack in the empire. This meant that the bulk of her crew had returned home. This included Lt. Colonel Scott Todd who was once with the deceased Kiera Tanus and Warrant Officer Wendy Wayne. The former shipmates were sitting together when General Tanus came in.
Tanus wanted to talk to Scott. He was his last real connection to Kiera. He enjoyed a drink with the former Killer Bees from the Kabarann. Wendy got up to walk over to get another drink. She was wearing an amazing cocktail dress.
"Wow!", Tanus looked at the back of the beautiful Talosian.
Scott chuckled, "Down boy. She is the niece of Hawkins Wayne and part of the Hawks. She is out of your league, old man."
Tanus smiled but disappeared to follow the Iconian exile up to the bar. The Talosian bird race had been scattered throughout the universe because of Iconian dominance so many centuries ago and only found prominence again by associating with the Phoenix Colony.
Tanus proceeded to spill his guts to Wendy telling his story from Teena Laree, a counsellor aboard the Washington and Tanmesad to Belvedere Brown himself and Paul Warren. He bluntly announced Gorn size limitations. Wendy listened. She could have ran away. Maybe she should have. She had balked at Scott Todd's advances on the Kabarann but something about the Gorn intrigued her.
Tanus was on the rebound. A rebound romance is rarely successful. Wendy was no child and she was tough as a marine. She knew the facts.
Wendy looked at Tanus, "Ah, what the hell."
She took his hand and led him from lounge at Leo's.
They both needed a break from reality. This was a nice way to get one.
