Dukath was slumped in his chair. His empty chalice of blood wine had fell over. Sam Larle had returned from hiding to find his leader still wallowing in the loss his daughter and in the loss of his authority.
Sam looked around the room. He had flown a ship named for the Kabarann family. He had served as their General and their representative. He owed them.
Osama thought of his own family. His father had followed Worf off world and into Starfleet. He had excelled and brought honor to the name aboard the Tanmesad. The House of Larle stood far from the first families of Klingon.
Sam had been trained by the King's Fleet. He had learned to fly from Commander T'Zohl of Vulcan. He had been taught honour by Vincent Viceroy and humility by Admiral Tan.
Sam was a good man but at his core he was a Klingon. He was a warrior. He could not his empire be under the control of this man.
General Osama Larle looked at his fallen leader. Dukath had once united an empire only months earlier when no one else could out of the failure of the house of neroQ and the horrors of the Temporal Disaster. He lost everything when Dut'Kanna died. The empire lost everything too.
Osama unsheathed his blade. He looked at the heavens, "We will sing songs of your unification of a fallen empire. We will sing the praises of a father who loved his daughter more than his empire. Today is a good day to die!"
Chancellor Larle plunged the blade through the top of Dukath Kabarann's neck. He looked to the heavens and yelled as only a Klingon is able to.
Word spread quickly. Within hours, the great families of the Klingon Empire began to announce recognition of the House of Larle and of Chancellor Larle.
President Harper Madison became the first Federation Official to announce the United Federation of Planets recognized Larle's authority. Shortly after, Praetor T'Ris announced that the Romulan Star Empire would honor any agreements with the current Klingon administration.
I wonder what Laphe of Larle, a Klingon exile would think of his son rising to the top of the Klingon universe. How times of changed....
