Vincent read the note over and over again.

Get Dr. Orchid Coren and bring her to the River Covington or you will never see Vice Admiral Nicole Branson alive again.

Vincent went to see Orchid. She could not believe that Addison had stooped to such a level. He kidnapped Nicole to get her back. Orchid tried to contact him by combadge, by communicator and even by subspace frequency with no luck.
Orchid and Vincent went to the river alone. It was stupid. They have an entire army at their disposal. They never told Captain Leo. They never told Governor Greene. They just did what the note said. 600 years of crime dramas and nothing learned.
Orchid and Vincent were stunned to see her father, Admiral Illyan Coren standing with Captain Addison Laree. The Admiral called it out. This will be a simple prisoner exchange. Orchid will walk to them as Nicole walks to the Betazoid contingent.
Vincent looked at Orchid who started walking. Nicole, her hands bound started walking towards Vincent. Vincent looked at the fear in her eyes. She had not been physically abused. She was still as radiant and beautiful as ever, but she had a fear in her eyes he had not seen since the Romulans and Vulcans.
Vincent felt a sense of relief after Nicole passed Orchid and was nearing him. Vincent looked across as Admiral Illyan Coren pulled a phaser and shot Nicole in the shoulder. Orchid turned back in fear. Nicole collapsed to the ground. Everyone was in shock.

Captain Addison Laree and Admiral Illyan Coren grabbed Orchid and took off.
Nicole was left laying with images of their relationship flashing through her mind. Vincent was frantic. He contacted Emergency Services and they took Nicole to the Leonard McCoy Institute.
Dr. Greene met them there. Vincent looked at her, "Skye, you need to save her."
Skye looked at Vincent, "I will do my best."
Nicole had been a bitter rival in two elections. Nicole was her former lover. She could have just left her laying there and she would have died. This was a defining moment for the Governor.
Skye looked at the nurses and gathered some equipment, "We're not gonna lose this one."
Skye and her staff put Nicole back together again cleaning up a bad phaser wound and tissue damage.
2 days later, Nicole woke up in the hospital bed; alone. This was a victory. She was alive, but this was a devastating love. Star crossed love is not something that should ever be tampered with.
Nicole just lay there crying...
