Dala was looking out at Badlands 819. Abraham came walking up to the Mirialan Bounty Hunter turned Federation Tactical Officer. Dala turned to the Shocktrooper turned First Officer, “The Nemoidian Ambassador has taken the name Nute Kaffee after the legendary Separatist Senator and the Hutt gangster who set him up as a regional despot.”
Dala looked frowned, “I share the last name with a Trade Federation lunatic who is about to move a Droid army on Cardassia. Lucky me!”
“My name came from an Earth history book. It is our actions that define us not our name. Remember I was once called 2395-1.”, Abraham looked out the viewer.
“He’s right you know.”, Vanessa came walking up, “I am a genetic experiment whose internal body temperature is so hot my spit can seriously burn you.”
Abraham looked sideways at the Tholian Hybrid. Vanessa smiled, “We will not be defined by our history. We will be defined by our actions.”
“If the Hutt and their figurehead move on Cardassia, we will stand with Minister Garak and his rebuilding people.”, Vanessa smiled.
The USS Helio’s Chariot was also on patrol near the Nemoidian base. Rence looked at the surface as the shuttle rendezvoused with the four nacelle starship. Rence looked on as Ambassador Kaffee, “Welcome Separatist.”
Nute smiled, “It was a long time ago.”
The Nemoidian looked at the Imperial, “You should stand with us. We could avenge your father. You could stand command of a Droid Army. You could once again rule Cardassia and maybe Bajor, Grand Moff Devreon.”
Rence turned and looked out the viewer. He had to think about it.
Aayla came walking onto the bridge. She could tell he was thinking about it. Aayla looked at him, “Stand with Admiral Viceroy. He is a good man.”
“What has a good man ever gotten me?”, Rence looked at the Twilek.
“Command of a Cheyenne Class Starship.”, Aayla observed.
“It is about a tenth the size of the Vader’s Lady or the King Arthur.”, Rence grumbled.
Zane looked at Rence, “This is your chance to balance the evil deeds of the withdrawal to Jakku. Many people died including your own people. If you do the right thing, you can help balance those losses.”
“I need to balance my spirit, Commander Harris. I have made peace with who I am.”, Rence glared at his Republic Helmsperson and Engineer.
Ambassador Kaffee smiled, “Command of an unlimited number of droids in an occupation of a world that will refer to you as Grand Moff in the Trade Confederacy under Chancellor Nute Kaffee.”
The Nemoidian started back towards his shuttle, “The offer stands.”
Rence followed the Nemoidian. Nute looked at him, “You are thinking about it.”
Nute smiled, “I am just learning this industrial replication. I will one day build a Capital Ship…. Maybe even a Star Destroyer.”
Rence stood there watching out the viewport. He was thinking about it.
Captain Wayne LaBarbara walked up and put his hand on the shoulder of his Commanding Officer, “Just some food for thought; If you abandon your post or betray the King’s Fleet, your death sentence will be restored. If captured, you will be summarily executed.”
Wayne turned and walked towards the turbolift, “The Force always returns to a state of balance.”
The Republic Tactical Officer chuckled as he disappeared.
