Sulu came out on the docking platform to find Captain Sunny Jo Warren kneeling on the floor looking out at the Sovereign Class USS Quasar Quest.
She looked at her Captain, “Sunny?”
“Are you a spiritual person, Commander?”, Sunny asked.
Sulu did not answer before Sunny began to explain.
“When Captain S’Nii left Vulcan to embrace her emotions, the one thing she missed was the focus that comes from spirituality. Vulcan use a form of meditation known as the Kolenar to repress their emotions and there is an innate calm that comes from meditation.”, Sunny, the Trill host of both Captain John Warren, her mentor and Captain S’Nii of Vulcan, responded.
“I am not certain of my spirituality, Sunny.”, Sulu looked at her commanding officer.
“John Warren was a traditional man raised in a Christian household on Earth. He was not religious in terms of attending church but he had seen enough omnipotence to at least conceive of the possibility of a supreme being and would often pray silently when the great ship got into trouble.”, Sunny looked at the floor.
Sulu looked out at the multiple times refit big bird. She thought of Lindsay, her host. Commander Viceroy was killed twice and even ripped from heaven once. She believed and more than that age believed she remembered it.
“Why are you praying at the ship?”, Sulu asked.
“We were attacked and lost. We crashed but lived. The Tanmesad was recently badly damaged but the crew lived. We are in tough, Sulu. We need a higher power to protect us.”, Sunny closed her eyes.
Sulu knelt down by her friend, her lover and her commanding officer. She never spoke but she asked for that higher power to watch over the Double Q.
Bennie, the Benzite built android came walking by carrying a large load of parts. She looked at the praying leaders, “Prayers aren’t necessary. We have the best shields and the best weapons in the Fleet.”
She dropped a panel on the floor of the walkway with a loud thud. She reached down to pick it up and two more fell.
Sunny looked at Bennie and smiled, “We need all the help we can get.”
She got up and picked up the panels to help her robot engineer.
The three ladies laughed.
Sulu smiled, “Yes we do!”
