Christine awoke to her console going crazy. She should have been overjoyed. This was finally a major news story. The embarrassment of Governor Skylight Greene only served to put the Phoenix Colony back in the forefront of Federation Politics. Christine spent the morning as a guest announcer for the Federation Broadcast Network as the tiny Omega News Network covered the political unrest, the embarrassment of Governor Greene and in all likelihood the fact that the 10 million inhabitants of the cities of the colony would once again be going to the polls.
Christine stayed focused, on topic and successfully helped topple a government with her coverage. Protests from around the cities of the colony had brought down the Governor. Christine was the pinnacle of grace on the Federation Broadcasting Network (FBN).
At the end of the day, after a massive day of coverage, Christine walked into the studios within the Federation Complex. She looked at the door of the subspace broadcasting console. She stood there for a few minutes before going in to give her daily sign-off; unequivocably one of the very best editorials in the Phoenix Federation. Christine paused gathering her thoughts.
She sat down in the chair. She knew every single citizen of the colony would have activated the amazing HUD technology that had brought subspace broadcast to everyone in the colony.
The HUD was stored in a tiny little disc that was literally placed anywhere and everywhere on the colony thanks to the amazing work of Chief Engineer Acrylos Teero. The Bajoran engineer was simply a genius.
Christine should have just recounted the story. She should have chastised Governor Greene. When in her history has the hybrid done what she is supposed to?
"So let me get this straight. The lesbian baby gets a call from William Hunt. She whines about Governor Greene and Captain S'Nii. Hell, who does not whine about the government. She throws a tantrum and like every spoiled brat child, she gets what she wants. I will never understand how this happens? She acts like a child. She is incompetent and yet she manipulates those around her to get what she wants. Nicole Branson disgusts me.", Christine leaned back in the chair.
"The colony was in horrible hands when she was our governor. She is a manipulative moron. Alas, the citizens of the colony grew up and sent a message electing Commodore Vincent Viceroy. Viceroy had given all he had when he served as the King's Fleet Commanding Officer. He did nothing as governor. In hindsight, nothing was better. At least he did not screw anything up. He served as our leader through two crises. He survived his reign, he did not own it. Viceroy is an idiot and a Branson apologist of the worst kind.", Christine looked sternly in to the camera.
"Star Fleet, the Phoenix Federation and the colony in their wisdom saw the growth of the colony to select a civilian government. The election was a special time on the colony. Their was great joy in the selection of an Omega Academy Professor, the regional head of Star Fleet Medical and one of the finest instructors and orators in the region. Dr. Greene was a hero of the colony. She and Dr. Orchid Coren saved the colony from the Romulan Biological Weapon Experiment. She was swept into power.", Christine looked at the camera as she recounted the colony history.
"In power, like Branson and Viceroy before her, she did some stupid things. Using her power and influence, she has manipulated the Vulcan S'Nii to serve her every whim. The resultant poor behavior has done little to endear her to her followers and referring to them as "doing whatever she wants" in the broadcast was stupid; there is no other explanation. She however is not a criminal nor does a hero of the colony deserve to be villified in the media, on the streets of the colony or worse in the Academy where she is the Chief Administrator of the Dr. Leonard McCoy Teaching Hospital. The mistake was made as Governor and not in any of these other roles. Understand, it was the job that brought her down not who she is.", Christine editorialized.
"Now, lastly. To Admiral William Hunt (Ret.), President of the Phoenix Federation. This man was burdened with Vice Admiral Nicole Branson by Admiral Tim Veltkamp. Veltkamp had employed the lesbian art student as Awards Director. She should be doing just that. Pressing medallions in some pathetic factory, not running a colony. Admiral Hunt was not elected president of the Phoenix Federation he was selected as reward for his heroic actions during the Phoenix Liberation. There is no discounting his history. Like Governor Greene, he is a hero. He however has supported this colony's leadership in the past through the moronic Branson to the old fuddy-duddy Viceroy and yet after Branson's little tantrum he sets in his mind to interfere in our politics. Fantastic. The hero of the Federation has nothing better to do interfere in colony politics now that he is not sidetracked by his ship or his mission. Remember Admiral, that being young does not give you the experience or wisdom of the ages. Governor Greene had behaved badly. That much is for certain but she was our problem. Now the colony, in the midst of trade negotiations for the Omega Sands, is burdened with an election.", Christine steamed as she ripped the President as she was prone to do to everyone around her.
